Darron Stiles was looking over a chip shot on 17.
Bobby Clampett: "He plays most of his golf out of Pinehurst."
Feherty: "Well that doesn't make him a bad person."
I would have needed a new laptop if I was taking a drink at that moment....
PS. Sorry for the double post. website was having problems as I posted.

Agreed. He breathes some much needed life into golf announcing.

The other line that remember today was when he and Ian Baker Finch were talking about his trip to the Open tomorrow as opposed to the charter the players were taking (Chicago, Glasgow, etc,) then Feherty said, "would you like ice in your drink, one or two cubes..." then "if it gets over 70 degrees every ice machine in Scotland will quit working..."
Classic.

The TPC they were at today had a lot of chips that were from tight lies back up to an elevated green, somewhat similar to what you would see at Pinehurst, and that Stiles would be accumstomed to it, which is the point Clampett was starting to make. Feherty simply interjected right at the right time...

I could listen to him call an entire event with Gary McCord and would love it.
He makes listening a lot more enjoyable.

Two books that are absolute MUST reading....
Gary McCord: Just a range ball in a box of Titleists
and
David Feherty: Somewhere a village is missing an idiot
If you're a fan of these guys, you owe it to yourself to pick these up.

I don't know if anyone has watched the Golf in America series on the Golf Channel, but they did a spot on his work with war veterans. They were about to embark on a ride, and he yelled Company Ho, then pointing at Kelly Tilghman said, that would be Kelly. I just about fell out of my chair laughing that they would even put that on air.
I don't know if anyone else does it, but I can't read anything by either of those two, McCord or Faherty, without reading it in their accent.

I'll give a big thumbs up for Feherty but I'd prefer never to have to listen to McCord ever again. Thank God that the Masters, warts and all, told CBS to keep him off their broadcasts.
While I'm ranting, my favorite line of the weekend was when Johnny Miller actually said that a shot hit during the Women's U.S. Open was "skanky."

After Anthony Kim pulls a tee shot left into the trees at AT&T, "Oh, that's dark in there."
Feherty is awesome. Him and McCord together are great.

Best line I heard was at the Tavistock cup. He was introducing players and said that Nick Faldo would have been there but he couldn't because "he was attending the birth of his next wife". Cracked me up.

I think we've all been critical of Ryan Moore's attire.....Feherty said "Ryan Moore looks like he covered himself in velcro then ran thru a thrift store."

Just repeating D.Feherty's comments about Nick Faldo's excuse for not being able to attend Tavistock because he had to be at his next wife's birth, and about Ryan Moore's wardrobe being the result of running through a thrift store wearing velcro had me laughing out loud.
I absolutely love Feherty's golf commentary. His tonal inflection, accent, comic timing and content are just spot on.
Funny though, I didn't find his book too funny. Not close to the laugh track I produce repeatedly from his written columns or even his audio quips on tv.
He's a gift to tv golf.

On a pitch shot that hit and stuck: "That ball landed like a bag of snot."
