... must be Martin Kaymer in the moment. Quite impressing performance over the last two weeks, winning two of the biggest European events in a row. What do you think about him?

I saw him playing a practice round in Augusta a couple of years ago.
What a day it must have been for him - I think it was his first Masters, and this practice round (at least on the back nine) he got to play with Arnie, Jack, and Gary Player.
Er ist ein feiner Spieler. He has a lot of game and I think we're going to hear plenty from him.

It's sad no one really talks about him...he is a PLAYER. I'm glad I did a project on him for German class, b/c otherwise I doubt I would know who he is
either though haha...hopefully he will perform pretty well at the Open next week...

Ever since I joined this site back in April I've always said look out for Martin Kaymer - he has got some serious game.
He's been my favourite player now for a good few months. He's so calm and relaxed - never looks like he's stressed when he's in a bad situation etc... His mental game is incredible too. It was interesting today when watching his interview after he won the Scottish Open. The lady who was interviewing him kept on saying if he feels he's good enough to start to win majors and Kaymer just responsded extremely modestly saying how's he's got a long way to go and that he doesn't feel he's ready to win one yet etc...
Awesome player. One of the best tee-to-green players around with a fantastic short-game too - I feel he can do the treble next week at Turnberry.

Ranked 11th in the world and nobody has really heard of him, weird. Young too, 25 years old, definitely one to watch.
Back to back wins on the European Tour is no joke, he has some serious game.

this guy is seriously good and I've been tracking him since he won in Abu Dhabi last year. Berhard Langer had been talking him up for some time now and my, oh my, is he the real deal!
He's best described as a stoic German and doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve (see his interview comments after winning the Scottish Open), unlike say Sergio Garcia or Rory McIlroy, and so the marketeers prefer to focus on the flashier guys, even down to the likes of Boo Weekley. Sorry Boo fans...(thought I better apologise before getting flamed).

Great swing, he is not as flashy, but he is a gamer.

I am a big McIlroy fan and although Kaymer is not as technically sound he has something not Rory needs....
How to close out tournaments and win.

I wan't aware that MK was that much of a secret, I have followed him
for 2 years, along with Ross Fisher and a few others. He's the real deal
and if nothing unforseen happens, he'll be top 10 or so for a long time.
I've watched him several times on TV, and he does not appear to be as
Slow as Langer, which is a good thing.

He also had a 59 in competition before stepping up to the Challenge Tour. Granted, it was on the EPD Tour, but a 59 on a Par 72 course is no small feat under any conditions.

So how are Kaymer and McIlroy for dark horses? And Ross Fisher??

As I recall from the aforementioned German project, he shot a 59 while parring one of the par-5's and bogeying a hole...it could've
been REALLY low though!

Ya, Bogey on the second hole and a par on the Par5 17th.

I agree with everything said about MK....he is really fun to watch.
Another player that comes to mind is Louis Oosthizen (sp?) , he has an incredible talent as well.

A young player who I feel has a lot of upside is Steve Marino. However, McIlroy, Kaymer & Fisher are all really impressive.

I'm not sure about Ross Fisher... I just don't get the same positive vibes I get from Kaymer and McIlroy. He just doesn't look a confident guy and his putting is woeful.

He was a Ryder Cup contender last year and even made the trip as an observer. Hardly a secret.

@bones Nowhere near the level of Kaymer, McIlroy and Fisher at the moment. He's still a young lad with lots of potential; just a shame he hasn't really made his big break yet.

That scorecard from the 59 is ridiculous. How do you bogey #2 and not make birdie on a par 5 and still shoot 59. Insane.
