At the ranges I go to here in New England, something happens that kind of annoys me. Every time that I go to the range, there always seems to be some high handicapper who thinks he knows what he is talking about trying to offer himself up as a swing coach to the other golfers at the range. I always refer to these guys as Leadbetters, and it just bothers me that not only do they potentially take the business from the good guys at the school my brother and I go to, but they suggest some things that are just sooo wrong and I always want to call them out on it, but never do. By no means am I saying that, for example, if a guy goes with his wife or son who is picking up the game, and trys to give them a few pointers, thats is wrong (I do that with my dad sometimes). But when these know it alls walk up to random people trying to work on their game after they are done topping their whole bucket and start trying to change the other golfers swing, its uncalled for.
Just seeing if anyone agrees...

I have a related one.
Today I go out to "caddy" (drive the cart) for a buddy of mine (just a casual round with some friends - but I can't play with the broken foot). Every 3 minutes one of them is asking me "hey how does this look?" or "what do you think?".
Okay, I'm not a total dumbass about this stuff, but I'm not a Butch Harmon either. Just let me enjoy the sun and watch you guys play some good golf!

lol that's really, really weird. You need to find some new ranges.
Usually only see that stuff with some guy trying to pick up a girl by helping her with her swing.
Maybe the guy is looking to pick you up, never know.

Lol I was at the same range as the kid who made this post yesterday, and there were these two kids in there 20's about one being a girl one a guy, and obviously the guy was trying to impress the girl, trying to make her think he knew what he was talking about like picking up your front foot in the backswing to get more power. He then went on to say "Most of the pros do it just watch for it next time." And ontop of him saying all this I dont think he hit a driver past 100 yards even though on half them he would say "WOW I got all of that one."

Years ago I got to spend some time with Hank Haney while he was TAIII's golf coach, he used to tell stories of how when he went to teach future Class A pros during business school and how they would divide themselves into the Leadbetter camps, the Hogan camps, and whatever guru du jour was hot at the time. he said all guys wanted to do was challenge his teaching philosophy and explain why "their guy" was better...kind of like what happens here on WRX from time to time. Hank knew better than to get in a whizzing match with them but he said it was entertaining to hear snot nosed pros telling him about the golf swing as if they had sat shagging balls for Hogan himself
