it's bad enough he had his own show with hank, I was watching the nationwide tour the other day and most the coverage was of charles barkly. Seriously, who wants to watch him. not only is his swing painful to watch, but the guy is a jerk. I have been around him enough (lived by him), and he is not a good person in my opinion.

Hate is such a big word these days...did you know that Sir Charles just gave another $90,000 to the victims of the Angola fire that nealy wiped out Lake Tahoe a year ago? On top of the original $100,000 that he gave last year. He is one of the reasons I go to the Celebrity Golf Tournament at Lake Tahoe every year to say thanks to the players who give so much to all the charity's . You may have had a "moment" with Charles, but to hate anyone who gives so much of his time to help people is shear stupidity. JMO. M29

for a few weeks was fun, but I don't need to watch that swing continually.
Now if he was still playing basketball on ESPN, I could watch plenty of that.

I don't care if the guy is nice or an a-hole, I just hate seeing that damn idiotic show about him fixing that aweful swing.

I wish he played every week and they covered every shot. I guarantee I'd find something to laugh at and remember, in contrast to every Nationwide round I've ever watched.

He used to come into a golf shop I worked at in Bham (I regripped his huge clubs once) and he couldn't have been a nicer guy. Always cracking jokes and signing autographs for anybody that asked. Far from a jerk in my opinion.

barkley deserves coverage on the channel.. he is a great ambassador of the sport

You could say his struggle is very representative of the non-pro aspect of golf that is typically not covered by the media. The side that the average joe deals with, making him a shining example of determination and humility that high handicappers can look to for inspiration...

Only most high handicappers don't get personal lessons with one of the top instructors in the world, the luxury of playing golf every day, and an endorsement from Nike Golf. I think that takes away from the accomplishment significantly.

Leaving the personals out of it, the shtick was entertaining for a while, but now it's overdone.

I was very surprised by how much of Barkley's round Golf Channel chose to show on Friday. His swing looked worse than ever. Seemed to me like he made no progress during his time with Haney and GC's decision to televise every one of his shots only devalued their own show. What was the point if he's still going to have that ridiculous hitch/pause during his downswing and hit 30 yard worm burners a year later?

There is a reason he is on TV and you are not. Regardless of how good of a golfer he is, us average golfers can relate to frustrating golf outings. Bragging about how much money you gave to the charities just shows me that your heart was never in it to start with. You could use some humble pie. I cannot stand it when a person gives money and then someone that doesnt like that person says oh "its a drop in the bucket" or "they just did it for a tax write off" what the h#ll is the difference he gave 200,000 to those people that they didnt have. He didnt have to give it but he did.

my brother run's into Mr. Barkley 2-3 times a week and say's he couldn't be a nicer guy. Especially when it comes to fan's. Maybe he's nicer to the normal folk and doesn't have time for the richy rich of the world.

id love to see any Sir Charles Haters have half the bad swing as him and still have the love for the game like he does, that in its own is enough to respect him IMO

I know someone who was great friends with Charles and all that person said were nice things about him. She worked at a golf course where Charles and Michael Jordan were members and she said Jordan was the real a-hole and Charles was real down to earth and a great guy.

And this follows suit with what everybody else has said so far about Barkley so I don't see where you're coming from calling him a jerk. And if you don't want to watch his show then don't. No one is forcing you to sit on your couch and stare at the tv.

My family gave 19 kajillion to help stop world hunger(and yes we have records of it and we had board meetings too((and its on paper too))). We have taken care of all the taxes for the next 30 generations of our family and let me/us tell you it feels great.
BTW we like Sir Charles but he is just too drop in a bucket poor to hang out with so I dont know if hes nice or not. But he has a poor swing even for a peasant... its great to be a kajillionaire (and again I have records so shut it).

Charles used to live a few house down from us in the 90's when i still lived with my parents, he wasn't a very nice guy then.

I hear what your saying and ya know what maybe in the 90's while he was playing ball he was a bit arrogant. But the man has changed since playing ball. He's what like 50 years old I think time has softened him and he appreciates things a bit more now.

i was at a casino in connecticut last year and MJ and Barkley were there playing some blackjack, i asked my casino host how they were doing and she told me that Barkley had lost half a million dollars already and that he asked to borrow another million but they told him no, MJ was up 500k. She also told me that MJ was the biggest a hole alive and Barkley lost the money with a smile on his face. I even saw him stop and sign autographs for people and joke around after he left the table. You have to be a pretty nice guy to just lose that much money and still stop and sign autographs

Personally, i love watching him on golf channel and tnt for that matter. He is refreshingly honest, in an overly Politically Correct Society. The show fits the formula for todays viewer-ship. Show the disaster- show the work to improve - then the big reveal > DOES HE IMPROVE? - this is also appreciated, they really did not try to hide that he still sucks. How many shows would have tried to overproduce and manipulate his story into a "feel good moment"?

anyway, the show is ok. Not the best, but certainly not bad enough to rip.

With all the money your family has, I'm certain they could have paid for a better school to help with spelling/grammar.

Yes, I hope the golf channel gets rid of that ghastly Barkley show. I think it would be a good idea if they had a show called "Touring the Classics". A look at great courses - not so much the ones you have seen a lot - but places like Cypress Point, Ballybunion, etc. I bet Tom Watson would host a show like that.
