I may (or may not) have a couple of free weekdays in Spartanburg, SC later this summer. I'm looking for some golf course suggestions. I don't necessarily need anything really high end. Just some playable courses, fancy or not. Inexpensive would be nice. And I'd probably be arriving as a single (pot luck with partners, naturally).

Also are there any really good practice facilities (both range with grass and short game areas)?

River Falls sounds like what you are looking for. Also, you can go up the road a bit (20 minutes) and play Verdae Greens in Greenville.

Let me know when you are in town, I belong to a place and if I can make it out of the office during the week we can play where I belong (about 20 minutes from you).

Both the above are nice. You can add Links O'Tryon which is also not far away.

Brights Creek is not far away and is an incredible Fazio design that takes some outside play I believe.

village greens is nice, also Oak Ridge , its a short and hilly course. both are reasonable

River Falls is in Duncan, SC (between Greenville and Spartanburg)
Verdae is in Greenville. both excellent courses
Expect to pay more for Verdae

In Greenville, there's a driving range on Pelham Road and HWY 14
(more of Greer than Greenville now think of it)
Very closed to I 85 Pelham exit so should not be that bad
Spartanburg has some good courses but most of them are private

After the practice, don't forget to stop by Charlies' BBQ, just a half mile away from there.
Top notch BBQ you will ever taste!

Verdae Greens is good. They used to play a Nationwide event there.

Definitelly have to play River Falls Plantation. Top notch and around $50 on weekends. Grass drivng range and a nice practice green. I'm about 45 min from there so PM me when you are in town.

Woodfin Ridge is a very good choice. It is just off I-26 in Inman, SC which is about 8-10 miles west of Spartanburg.

Willow Creek was pretty nice last time I was up there. Cherokee Valley is a must play. I think its about 25 minutes drive from Greenville.

I was at Willow Creek last year and was disappointed by their condition
They must imporved the condition now.

Would like to go back there if it is better shape than last year

+1 for River Falls. I really enjoyed Caroilna Country Club if you can get on there. I would not recommend Verdae greens, not my favorite.

And The Eagle Zone is fantastic!!!
