Full Version: Dumbest question ever

I'm new to golfing, well I'm finally becoming dedicated to try and get better. (read: not make a fool out of myself)
But one last (hopefully) stupid question. I just bought a new bag, my previous was a hand-me-down Ping Hoofer that has served me very well. But I began walking about 36 holes a week and my right shoulder is starting to get sore during these hot muggy midwest days, so I picked up a Taylormade Taylite 3.5 for 25 bucks. Lighter and has the backpack style straps. During my process of switching over to the TM, I began to ponder what the spring-cinch strap is dangling off the side is for. It's perched above the umbrella sleeve on the TM, which made me think it simply was to secure an umbrella, but on my Hoofer, it's not. So there goes my only idea.

Could someone please inform me what it's for?

Thanks!

I had something like that and used it to hold my umbrella, but that did not work very well, so I don't know if that is correct.

If it is what I think it is, then I always thougfht that was meant for a towel. I know towels always have teh metal ring like hooks with them but I thought these were for an alternate place to keep a towel so it is not necessarily hanging to the ground.

I could be dead wrong and as you can tell, I never use mine anyway lol

If it's woven cord and the cord diameter can be reduced with the clamp, then it's for the top of the umbrella where the handle is. Usually it goes in there, there's a loose sleeve about half way down the bag which holds the middle of the umbrella, and a little strap at the base of the bag for the umbrella point.

That's what I thought it was for, but on the hoofer it just didn't line up. Oh well, thanks!
