I will be heading down to Charleston in the middle of July and want a recommendation on where to play. I have already played Charleston National, both Wild Dunes courses, and two of the Kiawah courses. Staying in Mount Pleasant so I'm thinking patriots point but let me know.

We've had plenty of rain this year so most all the courses are more lush than normal for this time of year. Patriots Point is ok but I would probably give Rivertowne a try instead. It's a nice Palmer design out off 41 on the North side of Mt. P.

Big +1 on Rivertowne, a great course.

Drive down to Coosaw Creek.

Rivertowne is good.

Charleston National is good.

Patriots Point is OK.

Steer clear of Dunes West.

Sure about coosaw. doesnt look that great on the website but it did get 4 stars by Golf Digest I guess.

Stono is a good course although not as nice as Rivertowne. It's on the opposite side of Charleston from Mt. Pleasant out towards Hollywood so that's why I didn't mention it. Depending on when you make your tee time and where you're staying in Mt. P you could be looking at a 45 minute drive as traffic can get a little dicey around here especially going across town and out Rt. 17.

Coosaw is a nice course, an Arthur Hills design that's semi-private and was private at one point in time. It's in North Charleston, which is the adjoining city to the West of Charleston and would also be a haul from Mt. P depending on traffic.

I was going to play coosaw last year but I was staying at snee farm and the people i was staying with said coosaw was a hike so i never went. I think ill play rivertowne then. Seems to be that or patriots point.

It is OK, Charleston National is nice as well. Coosaw is near Summerville, a good 1/2 hour or more from Mt Pleasant.
