Heading to NYC over 4th of July. Will be staying near Madison Square Garden. Any cool golf shops or golf related places (stores, ranges, etc) to visit while we are there?
Only thing I have seen is Chelsea Pier but from what I understand its stupid expensive. I think our hotel does have some sort of deal with them though.
Wouldn't mind hitting or trying out some new products while I'm there....

Won't be playing as I don't plan to bring my clubs with me.

There's the New York Golf Center which has a reasonable amount of stuff in it and some indoor nets and fitting equipment. That's on about 35th between Broadway and 7th, so about a couple of blocks from MSG. There is the Chelsea Piers range, but you're right about it being expensive. It's $25 for 90 balls on peak. Peak is basically all the time outside of about 5 minutes mid-afternoon on weekdays I think. That said, it's quite good fun hitting out into the Hudson and it's in Manhattan which means stupidly expensive is about par.

Have fun.

You are going to NYC without your clubs my suggestion to you is to forget about golf for the weekend and enjoy the city. Fireworks are a must see, take a trip to the Statue of Liberty, Tour the Intrepid, the observation deck of the Empire State Building and Seaport. Go to one of the new stadiums and catch a ballgame. There is nothing on the island of Manhatten golf related that you can;t get somewhere else.

Thats one of the things I was wondering. We'll be there for a week so there should be some time to at least go look. I'm blessed with having nothing but a sports authority with nowhere to hit in my hometown, thus one of the reasons I was considering.

But yes, we're seeing a show, statue of liberty, central park......doing all the touristy stuff, don't worry smile.gif

In that case, there are several golf stores around the city, i think NYgolf is on 37th between 6th and 7th. Otherwise, if you are going to be here for a week, go to the golf center, rent some clubs for the day, take a trip to one of our many pay to play courses and enjoy the local fare.

NY Golf is on 35th btwn Broadway and 7th- they have a Taylormade Kingdom fitting room upstairs; NY Golf also at Chelsea Piers I think as well. World of Golf is on 47th and Lexington and has a Callaway fitting studio. Both probably need appointments. There is a Golfsmith in Midtown East, but whatever.

Hit balls at Chelsea overlooking the Hudson- go early to maybe get a good rate and not have to wait for a stall.... it'll make you appreciate how little space we have on Manhattan.

Unless you're renting a car, that's about as much golf as you will want to get done.

The Golfsmith is on 54th and Lex. If you go there, P.J. Clarks on 55 and 3rd is a must. Best burger in the city. Chelsea Piers is really fun if you can go though its open very late for off peak. Very cool to play in the dark.

Is that why they have been in business for over 100 years. Plus it would not make sense to apply for a credit card for one meal.

obviously you wouldnt apply for a credit card for one meal, the fact that they even have luger credit cards i find amusing

how many times have you eaten at lugers? so what they have been in business for over 120 years doesnt change that many locals think they are over rated...im not saying its bad per se they make alot of dough off of their name and their sauce but theres definitely better steak houses in nyc with better service, better food, etc...
