okay, heres a question. would you rather have had the past two opens as they were, where 2008 was really good and 2009 was ho-hum, or would you rather have had two middle of the road opens, say two years of the 2001 open or two years of the 2003 open?

I would have to side with the middle of the road seasons.

This year I didn't enjoy it much, but I think it had to do with no names and sh*tty weather.

If all the US Opens could be like last years that would be fantastic, but to answer your question, I'd take 2 middle of the road opens.

Too bad that most of the stories lines were surrounding the weather and the course condition. As time passes the talk of the 2009 US Open will be about the Rain and not about how a long shot to win it in Glover was the one that beat the field and mother nature to win.

Aside from the weather, I thought it was a good open. What made last year's so great...because Tiger won. I think that there are far too many people that view a tournament as "good" because Tiger wins or is in contention and "not good" if he never really factors. It's the same way you hear people say "that was a great course" when they play well or they find faults with the course when they play poorly. For a moment yesterday both Phil and Duval had a great chance of winning the tournament and both provided a lot of excitement but that's just my opinion.

I'm not so sure that last year's open was great just because Tiger won. The most interesting story from last year was Rocco - how can this "over the hill" short hitter with no world rankings to mention stand toe to toe with the best player in golf. You can also throw in the physical ailments Tiger was fighting, the last putt in the final round to force the playoff, the monday playoff itself, the playoff hole after the monday playoff... Yes, in the end, Tiger won, but that wasn't necessarily what made it great.

As for this year's open, I enjoyed it, at times it was very hard as a viewer to watch through all the rain delays and altered schedules/leaderboards. But I liked the Mickelson/Duval stories, and am happy to see a good guy like Glover win a big event.

last year was great, Rocco made it great not Tiger, Tiger did make it better though. This year was meh, I was busy most of the weekend so I missed a lot of it, but the weather messed it up. would I take 2 middle of the road opens instead? I dont know, but I do know id take Opens like 06 and 07 over the last one, last year was pretty fantastic and I dont know, it was really good.
