Hey All,

Quick Question - Entering a 9 hole score into a handicapping system just seems wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong. You post a 9 hole score...then you wait until you have another 9 hole score. You avg the 2 rating and slopes together and use the score as an 18 hole score.

Is that the correct way of doing it?

That has no merit on if the first 9 holes is harder then the back 9 holes.

I just researched a little bit online and different places have different ways of using the 9 holes scores.

Can someone verify what the correct way it is suppose to be used.

Just enter the 9 hole score and forget about it. The system will handle the rest. When it is combined with another nine hole score, the course ratings get added together and the slopes averaged. Even 18 hole scores are basically done this way. Ratings and slopes are actually are done per 9 holes and the 18 hole ones you see are are the combined 9 rating/slope. So a front 9 of 35.1 / 120 and back nine of 35.6 / 130 will give a 18 hole 70.7 / 125.
