Have a Ping Hoofer Vantage I bought two months ago, about 15 rounds played while using it and I need something better.

Pro's:

Sturdy, decent pockets, decent weight

Con's:

Barely holds 14 clubs, clubs get tangled and stuck constantly, straps are horrid even after a ton of adjustments. They actually cut into my body, near the ribs?

Paid $189 for this bag and I am really disappointed with it. The legs are great and it has never blown over on me even in some pretty windy condtions but it just sucks to carry for 18 holes with the strap configuration and I cannot stand how I have to really work to get my clubs back into the bag and sometimes I have an issue getting them out without pulling two other clubs out with the one I want. I actually chipped my 7 iron pretty good when pulling an 8 iron out the other day, my 7 landed on the cart path toe first, not good.

Anyone else have these issues and what would you recommend as a replacement? I walk 98% of my rounds so I would prefer something fairly light but roomy enough where the clubs go in a little easier and come out easier as well. I do not need a seperate putter well.

I bought this bag because I read such good info and reviews of it here on this site. So far not the case at least for me...

Thanks

Try the Sun Mountain four 5. The MPB (Multi-Purpose Bag) is great, a little bit heavier, but you can zip up the legs for cart riding and it has an external putter well that really makes the bag less cluttered and 14 divider top that keeps the grips and shafts from getting tangled up. Give them a gander, Sun Mountain makes the best carry bags. The SCB is the best cart bag in my opinion as well. Their colors kick a** as well.

is there an umbrella slot on the sun mountain 4.5?

Honestly, if you don't like the Hoofer Vantage I don't see how any bag will be good enough for you.

With that said, my second favorite are the Titleist(sun mountain made) premium carry bags. Straps are narrower and more form fitting to the natural grooves of your shoulders.

I have a Ping Hoofer Extreme that I couldn't stand the strap on and with a little bit of work and sewing put a sun mountain/titleist strap on it. If you can get a hold of a one of the straps (Call titleist or sun mountain and see if you can order one) you should be able to solve the uncomfortable strap problem. I don't think the strap setup on our two bags is exactly the same but it should be pretty close and you should be able to make it work.
