I was just reading an article about bethpage today (since I'm new to all of this) and how it has that warning sign about expert golfers only, and all the bitching of pro's past. I kept picturing how hard it could be. Seeing that first pic, I was like OMG!

It looks more like some bizzare challange hill built for big break or something.

How did the rough look? While I understand they aren't going to let it grow to rediculous lenghts, the rainy spring has meant deep rough in Connecticut. Heck, I am an not a USGA certified greenskeeper and I have managed to grow a deep, thick lawn.

I went there today too. Picked up a sweet AM&E US Open headcover. I saw David Duval and Angel Cabrera. Duval's caddie said the rough was really thick.

I'll be there Thursday. Of course, right now, they're predicting 40% chance of precip.

#17 is scary. Imagine staring down that little sliver of green on the 71st hole of the tournament, with all those bunkers and throngs of spectators perched right behind the green.

I think it would be great! Making it to the 71st (and hopefully the 72nd) hole of the US Open would be a dream.

Actually whenever I've played there I have always hit the 17th green. Of course it wasn't the 71st hole of the Open.

I played it 6 weeks ago after 2 days of rain....the rough is sick....and that not even the tall fescue. It was easily 4-5" and I was in it all day which means it was driver, PW, and then usually 6i + all day....the few times it was sitting up in the rough it was sitting up so high that the club could easily slip right under the ball catching the last few top grooves on your club...I actually prefered when it was sitting down.
