Full Version: Buying New Golf Bag

I'm interested in buying a new golf bag. I hate taking my putter cover on and off on each hole to protect my putter's face from dings, and I had hoped that the Titelist Lightweight Cart Bag I saw, which has an external putter tube, might keep my wedges sufficiently far away from my putter that collisions would be avoided. Unfortunately, when I took a few clubs off the rack in the store to check this out, I was mistaken. Which seems odd to me -- I'm not sure I "get" the purpose of the external tube if it doesn't protect the putter from impact with the other clubs. I tried with some other bags with external tubes too, and none of them worked in terms of this conflict.

I considered putting my woods up front, whose heads would be high enough to miss the short-shafted putter, but it seems that having to reach over the long woods to get to the irons would be very inconvenient.

With all the crazy features that some bags have it seems odd that no one has addressed this issue, so I'm presuming that I'm just missing finding the right bag. Does anybody know of a cart bag that can accommodate my issue? Thanks for any suggestions.

The BagBoy Revolver will solve your issue...it has little clips that hold the clubs in place. I have a C-130 from Sun Mountain, and it will work if you have a putter 33". Anything longer, and the wedges will tap it. I think Ping has a new bag that has the putter well far enough away to prevent chatter as well...I forget what it's called.

Oigio bags have good dividers for woods, irons and a separate slot for putters.
