My friend and I want to go on a golf trip next summer but we have to take our wives with us. Anybody have any good recommendations on places that have good golf and good stuff for the girls without paying an arm and a leg. We really want to stay in a condo or villa so we can cook out and have a place to sit outside. Thanks for the help.

Based on personal experience, golf trips and trips with the ladies, should never be combined.

You won't play nearly as much golf as you'd like, and they won't spend nearly as much time with you as they'd like. Essentially, it's the worst of both worlds.

Don't get me wrong, I love traveling with my fiancee, but the clubs aren't part of our travels.

Best advice would be to send the "girls" on their own weekend and plan a golf weekend with the fellas at the same time. Win Win.

The beach is so good that they won't care if you play 36 per day.

The day I go on a vacation without my clubs is the day I blow my brains out.

We just went on a cruise to the Eastern Carribean for a week @ 438.00 a person. They had a golf pro on the ship but we went on our own and saved big time to what the ship was charging. All the benifits of your condo pool, hot tube, backrub, dance, shows, disco, and nice place each day. That is the best way to go I think, unless you don't like the water..

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. You will find great and challenging courses plus the wives can spend the day at the beach.

Myrtle Beach. Lots of golf courses of all levels, great beach and lots of shopping for the ladies, and some good deals on condos, as the market is flooded.

I'm kind of the same, but my wife, who overall is very supportive of me playing, and only frowns when the finances get too high, didn't like how we were a bit limited in where to go over the winter based on the golf available. So we made a deal: I got a membership at a private club, and for the most part do not expect to get to play on a trip in the winter. As much as I would love to play in Jan/Feb being from the great white north, I still think it's a pretty good deal.

Completely disagree as long as the ladies enjoy their own company and do things on their own. While I haven't traveled with another couple I often go to resorts with my wife. She goes to the spa while I play golf. There are plenty of times where I have played 36 while she went to the spa, sat by the pool until I finished up and then we'd spend the evening together.

That said I highly recommend Kohler. Great golf for the guys and a top notch spa for the ladies. (edit: might be too pricy for what you want).

Another nice option would be Kingsmill in Williamsburg, VA.

If you live in the NE part of the country, Woodloch Springs in the Poconos or Turning Stone in Syracuse, NY wouldn't be bad options.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but the GF and I are looking to go to the Naples,Fl. area between X-mas and N.Y. 2009. Any recommendation on Golf Resorts in the Naples, Ft. Myers, Bonita Springs area would be appreciated. The preferences are; course or courses and good practice facility on site, above average lodging, above average food and beverage on site, proximity to the beach is a plus. The main consideration is the quality of the golf and practice facility. Thanks.

In Naples you can't go wrong with Tiburon.

I agree that you got a good deal. Hey, if you can't play golf on vacation, at least there's hotel sex.

+1 for Kohler and they have Stay and Play packages to help cut costs a bit...
