Looks like Tiger and a few other players already made it to Bethpage for some practice rounds...

I am not quite as good as Tiger, but I am sure that I am not the only one who gets pumped when my swing feels good.

For him it will again come down to finding fairways. He is good enough that he does not need to hit them all, but he is deadly from the short stuff.
I hope it comes down to another Phil v. Tiger event with a few others thrown in. Ogilvy, O'Hair, K. Perry.

given all he has gone through the last few weeks, i would be surprised if Phil was in contention on Sunday.

i'm sure it varies, but how far in advance do they normally shut a course down to start prepping and allowing players to practice?

I know the tournaments they have out here in California they shut the course down from 3-4 weeks before the tournament.

I think he's crazy, but then again, this is the type of drive and determination that he has always shown. That is why he will be the best player to ever play the game.
This video also shows s a much shorter backswing which I noticed at the Memorial. I would not be at all suprised to see him win at Bethpage.

Thats because it wasn't Tiger but this guy:

Tiger is actually in Sault St. Marie Canada on vacation with the family. If you look closely at the video, you will notice that Steve is also not there. This is all an attempt to make the other players nervous

No time to celebrate, rumor has it that he left the Memorial in a hurry in order to get a good spot in the Bethpage parking lot last night.

Maybe he parked that Lear 55 there. Tiger was in NY before alot of the Memorial's patrons got home.

He always plays the Open venue a week or two beforehand and typically just uses someone on site as a caddy, as written about in John Feinsteins book Open.

Not sure when it's going to be closed for the US Open as it might already be

Probably true. Although Jim Furyk arrived in the Philadelphia area by 9:30 last night for the Gala the night before his 1-day Exelon Invitational today which featured Furyk, AK, Perry and Casey.

A as far as the work ethic think about it I am sure this trip was planned in advance. Think about while his caddy and swing coach are around a short jaunt from Ohio to New York
Then Tiger will probably go home as will Stevie and Haney until they meet at Bethpage again.
He is a great player and he works hard at his game he is not a god.

You're absolutely correct... I think that was the whole point- he works harder than just about anyone and seems to want it more.
Some guys may have postponed the pre-planned Monday trip on their private jet... "bring the family and friends in for a night of celebrating- I can go to Bethpage on Tuesday..."
I never meant to suggest the trip wasn't preplanned.
Even if it was pre-planned, that does not make the work ethic any less- in fact, it makes it even more, IMO.

I was at Bethpage to watch Tiger for a couple holes today. Caught a glimpse of Justin Timberlake as we were leaving too. Tiger played one ball off each tee and into the greens and spent his time on the putting greens taking notes and putting with one hand only to areas of the greens. He passed by me and I congratulated him on the Memorial win and he said "thanks man".

Please next to some of these guys that play 30 tournaments a year come on Tiger playing a scheduled practice round is not a big deal
Lets just say the hardest working man in golf he is not.
The best player no question but hardest worker no way.
As for Stevie not being there I sort of assumed from what I read.

You know......
If you could be anyone in the world, it wouldn't be bad to be Tiger Woods......
But if you couldn't be Tiger, it wouldn't be bad to be Justin Timberlake!!
Let's see....Spears (before she became trashy), Cameron Diaz, Jessica Biel, loads of money, his own golf course, hosting Saturday Night Live, etc.
Damn, I'm old!!!

The original challenge was that a 10 handicapper couldn't break 100.
The winner of the contest is the guy/gal facing the challenge, not the celebrities playing along side him. They were just put there to a) make a foursome, b) to give everyone an additional incentive to join the contest, c) to even the field a little with half-way decent amateurs, and d) being comfortable in front of the cameras/media, take a little of the pressure off the contest winner. D is probably the most important one.

I wonder what the cops think when they're on duty walking with Tiger. It must be pretty cool (and somewhat boring at times) as long as theres no gallery and "GITH" screamers to have to deal with.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06092009/sport..._cad_173247.htmHere's the article about the local looper he picked up for the practice round. Interesting to hear about him hitting 1 ball off tees and greens, but mostly just writing notes about putting and watching the ball roll. I'd like to know more about tour player's practice rounds and how they figure out a given course before playing a big tournament there.
