Went to play the Prospector Course at Suncadia yesterday and thought I'd share some pics.

I've played this course about 20 times and the weather yesterday was absolutely the best ever. For those that have played this course before, you know that the wind can make for a long and brutal day).

We played the tips (7112 yards / 73.4 rating / slope 135) which really only made the par 3's harder in my opinion.

We ended up paying $50 with cart (twilight fee - 2:20 tee time). $85 before 2pm.

Not exactly sure what was up, but with the perfect weather and cheap rates, this place was like a ghost town. There were only about 15 cars in the entire parking lot. Only saw one or two groups the entire day (we saw more deer than people).

There is a beautiful house that sits about 30 feet off the left side of the 13th tee box. There's a nice covered barbeque patio with a kegerator. Golfers are free to go up and help yourself to whatever beer is on tap (yesterday was Roger's Pilsner) and leave a few bucks tip. The guy is a full-time resident and is a beer distributor for the Seattle area. We had about a 15 minute conversation with him sharing a beer or two.

All in all, a great day at a great course.

Damn, I've played Suncadia every Memorial Day since it opened and I didn't know about the free beer deal! Sounds like you had a much better experience than I had on Memorial Day-wind was blowing as bad as I've ever seen on the course-gusting as well so you couldn't judge it well. Was happy with the condition of the course, much better than last year. Got a chance after playing Prospector to look at the first completed 9 of Rope Rider-looks like it'll be interesting to play-maybe a bit easier than Prospector.

Yes, the course condition was fantastic. Tee boxes, fairways, traps, etc. The greens were a little slower than what I typically play on, but were in very good shape (much better than Apple Tree which is about 15 minutes from my house and more expensive to play). We're thinking about going up again in the next week or two if anyone is interested.

that is a great deal. i think I payed more than twice that last year when I went there.

Awesome pics! I'm loving #11, how far is it to those bunkers on the left? Thanks

I'd say from the tips, about 240ish to carry. One of the guys I was playing with hit his driver and hit about 2 feet above the trap on the right and bounced another 20 yards in the middle of the fairway. I believe that hole is 539 yards.

11 shouldn't be a problem to carry the bunkers for most. (as long as you are playing the proper tee's) it doglegs hard left and then downhill. But a big hook off the tee will get you in range to be there on the second shot.

beautiful! i need to make the short trip NE!

True. If you hook it too much, left is dead. Down a big bank with 1 foot tall grass all the way down the left edge of the fairway.

Sounds good. When you go, make sure you bring your new BooDoo shaft so I can check it out!

Suncadia is a fantastic resort to stay and play at! Played there numerous times, stayed once for s**** and giggles.

My U.S. AM qualifier is Prospector too!
PingG10
I thought the qualifier was going to be on the Tumble Creek (private) course-not Prospector? Am I mis-remembering the blurb I read?
sosinsurr
When I registered for the us am, if you look under the qualifying dates and sites on the application it lists under August 11th, Roslyn- Suncadia Prospector

So that's what I'm going off of
Chilidog
That course looks absolutely GORGEOUS! I've got to get up to the NW to play some golf....
PingG10
Good luck to you-either course will be a good challenge for the qualifier.

I was there the day after Memorial Day as I had a friend in from out of town and wanted to treat him to a nice round of golf. I have been going over there since it open and always enjoyed it. The greens are finally getting away from being rock hard and it's always in good condition, lightly played during mid week and some good rates as mentioned. (Mon-Tues are $60 w/cart through summer) The driver from the Seattle area is 75 minutes for most, but it seem quick because of less traffic and the 70 mph speed limits.

It always seems windy there, but the wind is not that bad due to the tree lines course. This is a course that I like to take people to as my guest for a nice non public course type of round. I will add a few pics if I can find mine..........Thanks for the Beer Tip.......BG
