Amy, his wife, was diagnosed with breast cancer and he's stepping away for a bit.
Hope they caught it in time and his wife is able to kick it off 100.

My prayers go out to him, his wife, and the family.
Hope is time away isn't too long...

I hate to hear this. I wish Phil, Amy and the kids all the best during her treatment and hopeful recovery.

On this note a co worker and I were talking this morning about this damn disease and how it knows no predjudice. It strikes any race, any age, any gender, rich, poor. It just doesn't matter. It's just a terrible terrible disease.

Wow thanks for letting us know.

Wow this is terrible news! My prayers go out to him and his family as well. Hopefully they caught it soon enough. Just another example of how life is much bigger than this wonderful game of golf we all get to play. Hope everyone else will keep them in their prayers as well.

Phil Mickelson has suspended his PGA Tour schedule indefinitely after his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer, the agency representing him announced Wednesday.

According to the release from Gaylord Sports Management, Amy Mickelson's treatment process is expected to begin with major surgery, possibly within the next two weeks. More tests are scheduled, according to the release.

Mickelson was scheduled to play the HP Byron Nelson Championship beginning Thursday and defend his Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial title next week.

Sometimes we forget that life is much harder than golf, don't we?

All our best thoughts and prayers to Phil and his family.

PS One of our own here on GolfWRX is facing his own challenges due to cancer. Read his thread. It is a real gut wrencher.

As much as you like or dislike someone you never want something like this to happen to them. I hope it is cured and they can move forward with there life.

Best wishes to Amy, a very sweet soul.

Prayers to Amy and Phil.

If you have ever gone through this with your own family, as I have.....news about someone facing this issue makes you step back for a moment and reflect about your own life, the little things you take for granted, friends and loved ones.
Sometimes the "big issues" in our lives really aren't that big at all.

My prayers go out for Phil and Amy. I hope they can face this head on and beat a horrible disease.
TheCapedAvenger
Hopes and prayers to their whole family. Golf seems pretty small in comparison, no doubt.

Wow. That's terrible news. I wish Amy and the rest of the clan the best of luck. Phil definitely chose correctly to take a leave, as I am sure just about everyone else would.

My heart goes out to the Mickelsons, I wish them the best.

Very sad to hear, I hope her treatment goes well.

My wife and I met Amy at Fashion Valley in SD a couple of years ago during our Christmas shopping. She was quite friendly and down to earth. I remembered her saying "Phil is home. He couldn't miss the Charger's game." My prayers and best wishes to the Mickelsons.

Pink golf balls all around... we all need to fight this fight.

Best wishes to the Amy and the rest of the Mickelson family.

Prayers for Amy and Phil.

As always golf is a distant priority to things like Faith, Health, Family and Friends.

A tough reminder to us all not to take them for granted.

When I heard about it, I almost couldn't believe it. I hope everything works out for them.

All the best to Amy and Phil. Cancer is a terrible disease, personally I have had far to many friends and family members affected by it. I wear a Livestrong bracelet to show my support for anyone battling it. Hopefully more and more people will choose to, as the money raised by that foundation alone, makes a tremendous difference.
randomhero1090
I'm not a Phil fan, but I am a fan of life and those who can beat this bugger we call cancer. So I wish nothing but the best for Amy and her family.

Amy does a TON for charity, and I hope she beats this thing and can be back to doing what she does so well, helping others.
pdaero
Mickelsons, our prayers are with you!
The Duck
MY prayers are with his family during this time of need.

Bloody awful news. I feel very sorry for them, and indeed the many thousands of other families around the world that have to deal with shattering news like this everyday.

Best wishes to them all and fingers crossed she beats this horrible disease. Stuff like this certainly puts golf into perspective.

My prayers go out to Amy for a full and speedy recovery.

Best wishes to the Amy and the rest of the Mickelson family.

That would be awesome if some of the players used Pink Golf balls during a Thursday - Friday rounds to show support.
MrJones
My neighbor is battling the same thing. It's really taken a toll on her and I hope Amy doesn't have to go through the same things she is.

I wish her a quick and hopefully painless recovery.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Mickelsons. I just brought my wife home from her second surgery for Breast Cancer. She is determined to be a survivor, and we both pray that Amy will beat this disease as well.

Hang tough, Amy and Phil!!!!

My prayers go out to the family, I'm in the same situation as my wife has just had a Biopsy to determine if she has Cervical Cancer, just awaiting results. She's only 28.
Very Very hard to deal with at present.

Once again, thoughts and prayers to the Mickelson family and any other family affected by this awful disease. Like mentioned above, hopefully they caught it in time for her to beat this so that she can get the treatment over with and enjoy the rest of her years with her family.
