I have a question about the new groove policy. Will it cover all irons or just wedges? Thanks!

Sorry, but that is incorrect:

The rule covers all irons with 25 degrees of loft (5 iron) or higer.

EDIT: added link to USGA rule

Hey Mak, thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that 25 degree qualification to the rule. I might be able to win a bet on that some time.

Great, I'll still be able to suck back my 3 iron shots from the rough!

Actually that is not quite right.

There are two rules in question for irons. The first rule is applicable to all irons dictates the cross sectional area of grooves and the spacing between grooves. The second applies only to clubs with lofts greater than 25° and dictates the edge radius of the grooves.

See page three of the first link on this page.
