I was talking with someone today who mentioned that Colonial here in Fort Worth had recently been re-rated after the recent remodel. I don't remember the slope (138 I think), but the course rating is now up to 75.3 with a par of 70. 5.3 strokes seemed like a pretty big gap. That would equate to a guy who consistantly shot par having a handicap index of +6 or so.

I'm sure there are larger gaps out there. Anyone know of any? Maybe Redstone down in Houston?

Old Corkscrew in Estero, FL (between fort myers and naples) is extremely HARD! From the tips it's 7,393 yds, Par 72. Course rating is 77.6 and the Slope is 153. I'm not 100% sure if it's true or not but i was told that the highest the grid/chart/map (whatever they use to measure) the slope is 155 and this course is 153. This past Monday they held a local qualifier for the US Open there with about 60-80 players, 1 person shot par or better. +4 76 got into a playoff for the 5th spot to move on. There was 10 scores posted over 90 and there was 14 ppl that either withdrew or did not turn in a card.

At the end of 2008 Stewart Cink played there and shot 76-73. The course record is somethin like 70. The greens are what make it so difficult. You can hit it to 6 feet and have to worry about 3 putting on almost every hole depending on where the pin is.

I'd say most of the courses on tour are in the 76-78 area as far as course rating goes. Stadium Course at Sawgrass is 77/155. Isleworth here in Orlando is 79/155 from the tips.

My home course is:

Men's Championship 76.4/147 7162 yds

From the tips.
Par 72.
It's a b!tch.
