TaylorMade improved the navigation on its new website, and made a big difference. Way easier to find what you're looking for. Anyone else notice the change?

back to the OP, I don't really see a difference, but I don't go out there all that often either.

LOL.. I couldnt navigate the site a few weeks ago and was havin a frusterating time with it, and all the sudden it has new navigation. Just wanted to look into the R9 some more.

Yeah I have noticed that as well. I also noticed that the web site was SLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWW. Sharp looking site though.

TaylorMade's website is a total piece of poo.

A few weeks ago I was interested in the new Burner irons and I went to check on them and after 10 minutes of pages and Flash loading I still couldn't get what I wanted on screen. It crashed Safari and Firefox and I won't go there ever again. It made me angry.

Now I'm angry because you made me think it was different, but it isn't and I went there and I lost another 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. And I still haven't seen the f'n Burners and that makes me angry and I am sticking with my Mizuno Tour XP, and that is making me angry too.

Overall, all I got from the TM site is a lot of anger. All that anger is making my unmentionable parts hide up inside me, and now my wife is angry too.

Level with me, you're on TaylorMade's IT staff, aren't you? Nobody else could view that monstrosity and actually show up at a forum and pimp the site.

On the off chance you don't work for TM and actually like the site, I'm happy for you. I pity you, but I'm happy you're happy.

Honestly, just give me a cleanly designed site with easy to navigate menus. Throw in Flash and Java Script to make things run more smoothly... not to make some disfunctional eye candy death trap.

I don't know if there are any differences in terms of products on the site, but all I know is it is faster than the American site.

I dont like it at all, I was at the range with my iphone, and wanted to see the r9 settings, so I could play with my new toy, and I couldnt surf the site.

Just a tip, use the Europe site, no flash crap to deal with. Problem solved!

i thought the new design sucked, personally. typical overly fancy crap that makes it harder to get the info you want than should be necessary.

I have to completely agree, TaylorMade's website is the absolute worst. Like all technology (Flash in this case) some people feel the need to over do it, but eventually they realize simplicity is the right way; does everyone remember digital watches or music synthesizers in the eighties. The website looks like it was designed by some overly enthusiastic 10th graders.

The only positive is that since this is TaylorMade a new and improved WebSite R 2.0 should be out next month, and then another one the month after that, and so on.

One of the few times I've ever been compelled to give feedback on a website was taylormade's site. I thought it was a joke when I first saw it, and suggested they give the option for people to get a simple version. Looks like I wasn't the only one. Just an unbelievably clueless design on their behalf.

Yup, I noticed the change. As slow as people saying it is, the site is actually WAAAYYY faster now than it was before, believe it or not. That "TaylorMade Clubhouse" unlocking-the-vault animation thing took a lot longer before. It's still pretty annoying, but it does seem to get off of my screen in half the time it took before.

The other big change I notice is that now, TM has gotten rid of the "Upper" and "Lower" floor animations. When they first came out with that website idea, I was trying to check out the specs of some older TM clubs. I kept on going back between the upper and lower floors trying to find the vintage clubs! Frustrating!

The site is still pretty difficult to navigate, but it is much better than before. I think the thing is, if someone visited the TM site often (like how often we visit GolfWRX), he would quickly get used to navigating TMgolf.com. But because most of us just want to check out some specs once in a great while, it takes some thinking and tinkering to find your way around.

Hardly, but now that you mention it a good number of people are still using dial-up. Good site design dictates that you code for the slowest speed that your users might be using - or provide a lower bandwidth alternative.

The site sucks moose balls. It is a designer's/programmer's wet dream. In reality, it is just a wet blanket.

First, they get is all excited about the R9. Full customization, best driver ever, yadayadayada.

So a bunch of people go out and buy the thing.

Then what do they do? They SCREW us.

Just saw an ad for the "larger" R9 460. WTF!!! Like they didn't already have this made when they originally released the original R9.

Seriously, here i go to look at the r9 on their website. All i wanted was to see a bit more info on what lofts were available and things like that, but suddenly... out of nowhere the computer slows down and im hit with..well... FLASH CRAP. I mean cmon, all that stuff does is turn people away and make it harder to navigate. Im using the eu site from now on.

"Change for the sake of change." A mantra the so-called suits use to hide the fact that they have run out of ideas within their core competency.

Sometimes, you don't need to have new product ideas within the core competency, either. Sometimes, the sales staff just needs to sell what they already have.

In another thread about demo day staffs, the point was made about reps being unfamiliar with the specs of what they sell. I can tell you that this permeates a lot of other industries besides golf equipment. The independent reps my company has hired exhibit the same lack of product knowledge, and it makes me want to tear my hair out. If it were within my purview, I would fire all but one or two of them. They send over stupid questions that waste my time and detract from the sales effort. They identify non-opportunities for products that we do not manufacture precisely because the market is too small to support the product's development, and then complain about it when they are told why we don't introduce the product.

There is no substance anymore for a lot of products. I'm way too young to remember this personally, but Fred Allen, a comedian in the 1940's, said that Hollywood was NOT the glitter of false tinsel. If you peel that false tinsel away, there is REAL tinsel underneath. So it is with Flash-based websites. All tinsel, no substance.

For anyone who says they see no change, they added navigation texts to the top of the page. I remember when I went there a few weeks ago they had that silly two-level clubhouse thing that you had to click open in order to navigate; so yes what they did is a HUGE navigation improvement. You can actually find what you want (for the most part).

Now in regards to be being a flash-based webpage, those have always sucked since the concept first came about almost a decade ago. I have no idea why companies think this is good for their image/sales. It's hard to navigate, users always get frustrated and all that "ohh-shiney" flash feeling disappears in about 2 minutes. But programmers get paid a lot of money to make things "interactive" so I guess it will never go away.

I visited the site yesterday to see if James Driscoll was listed on the staff. They should take some lessons at http://webpagesthatsuck.com. That site would fall under the heading "mystery meat navigation." OK, you can make Flash animations. Great, but I just want to get some information quickly and easily. As soon as I see the words "loading" on a site's home page, I usually go somewhere else
