Announced about an hour ago that MW has accepted a sponsor's exemption to play in the PGA John Deere Classic this July. She played in this tourney last year and came within 2 strokes of making the cut. Newsworthy due to another current thread.

...which means this year she'll miss it by 6! the big thing for her will be to remember that last year was last year. it's like when you play a game for the first time and do well then you think you're the expert only things don't go so well. hopefully she understands that.

what's her obsession with playing on the men's tour? she can't even win on the women's tour what on earth makes her think that she can hang with the men????

Thats exactly why everyone is P****D off. If annika by far the greatest ladys golfer in a long time wont play the mens tour, what freaking buisness does Wie have here. Oh wait but thats right they want us to start this ruckus henceforth she gets the attention. So while we're all here bashing this girl, its just feeding into what the sponsor wants us to do. Publicity is Publicity wether being bad or good for Deere. Great publicity stunt there pulling but will be worse when they realize "crap we could've used that spot for someone more meaningful"!

There's an easy way to make her go away, stop making such a big deal about it. . . it's a publicity stunt to get her more attention and sponsorship dollars.

She's not the first, nor will she be the last woman to try and play on tour. There's nothing you can do about it, it's the sponors who are giving her the invites because she draws HUGE galleries to tournaments that historically suffer poor attendance.

The novelty won't wear off any time soon now that they've spun it into, "will Michelle make the cut."

Face it, she's here to stay so let's take it for the good things it brings, she's a very poised and mature young lady who plays great golf. She's getting into these events on sponsors expemptions, so she's not taking food off anyone's table, and she's inspiring young women all over the country to think outside their geneder and be better than others think they can . . .

very good post and I agree with you. can't understand why people get pissed about, sponsors want the attention. it's strictly business.

I just hope she wears that mini skirt outfit.

Hopefully she misses the cut by at least 10 and then maybe this nonsense will finally end.

People want to watch golf not a circus freak show.

From a business point of view it is a great decision for the John Deere Classic. By putting her into the tournament which is each sponsors perogative since they have an invite they get great exposure for their tournament. Every sponsor is allowed to invite whomever they want so this is a dead issue. She has the right to play in the event whether it is right or wrong because it is the sponsors right to choose who they want with their sponsors invite.

Maybe Michelle wants to be a man.....

Last year I went to watch it on sunday and was kinda mad that she kissed the cut and I didnt get to see her play at all. I had better get tickets for thursday or friday this year ok.gif

I dont want to sound like I am in awe of her, I just want to see her play seeing as how she's only a year or 2 older than me.
