I am heading down in two weeks, anyone sleep over and did you get on the next day, also are there any tee restrictions and is the red open . I have played it 4 times , fantastic test, thanks TIM

I played the last Saturday in April. No tee restrictions. We played #4 from up top but there were no tee markers up there. Red is open but with all the tents they've erected 1 and 18 are cut down to par 3's and 5 (par 5) plays as a par 4.

Just got back from BP yesterday. We arrived at 6pm the night before to sleep over and we were unable to get on. People are arriving 2 days before and sleeping in thier cars for 2 nights if that gives you and idea of the lines there. It was documented that a guy slept in his car for 3 nights before he got on.
Bethpage is limiting thier rounds there to 8am to 1pm so it cuts the number of rounds down. They also eliminated the 1 per hour walk up tee times and the only times you can get on is the 1st hour. I suggest getting there around noon the day before. Good Luck!!

I'd imagine it will be absolutely crammed as it will be closing what... two weeks before the Open... which is about a week before you are there? Or is the week you're there the last week it's open? Either way, it's gonna be crowded I bet.

I think it is closing May 31 or there about. I would get there about 6:30 or 7 am the day before for a weekday tee time. Try to go with 2 or 3 guys so that 2 can play one of the other courses and 1 person can stay with the car - then rotate. Also, if you are only 1 or 2 people, try making a tee time. It is definitely possible to get lucky and get a time. biggrin.gif Good luck.

I am writing thos reply on my BlackBerry from the parking lot of bethpage. Showed up and 5am today (Saturday) for a Sunday tee time. I am the 6th car in line. Number 5 and 6 showed up around 4am and number there showed up around 1am. They are being extremelystrict about staying in your car. Someone has to be with the car at all times except maybe bathroom breaks and such.

Haha, I got away with teeing off from the very tips. Just gotta be quick and sneaky about it ninja.gif I felt like a rebel for doing so, but well worth it.

Oh, and on the waits. When I left thursday afternoon around 5:30pm there was 1 car waiting for Friday morning. So if you're looking to get out on a weekday just make sure you arrive between then and 7pm to wait.
