That number is outrageously high. I'd like to see documentation on that one. The PGA will go broke with numbers like that.

Are you sure that the $142 million is the total value of the pension? or $1.42 million per player.
$142 seems highly excessive and I don't think the PGA tour, nor any company would have the ability to pull that off.

Golfers do not make $142 million each for pensions period. end of dicussion.
It's either 1.42 million or $142 million combined.
GOLFERS DO NOT HAVE A PENSION OF $142 million each or a GUARENTEE YOU THERE WOULD BE A HELL OF A LOT MORE YOUNG GOLFERS

The pension fund gets some of it's funding by players deferring their winnigns from tournaments. I do not believe the 142 million for a 75th place winner for 20 years on tour is accurate. If you think about ti this way it makes no sense, 142 million over 20 years would be roughly 7 million a season. The 75th place money list guy does NOT make 7 mil a year, thus how could his pension be more than his career earnings?
Some things I (think I) remember:
Players build their pension accounts by performance. So a made cut contributes a set amount each year to your pension. That "per cut" amount increases after a set amount of cuts made in a year.
The amount of your pension that oyu can collect when it is all said and done is dependant upon how many tournaments you play in. It is not a straight percentage, but there are a number of "segments" each season which ultimately decide how much of you own pie you can collect
I also believe that they estimated Tiger's accumulated pension would be somewhere in $225-250M range.

Its based on "cuts".....with I believe 150 being the number to fully "vest" the retirement.......then other factors influence the amount......total earnings/years/finishes...etc......and 142 million is NOT what the guy who's 75th on the list would earn........that I can GUARANTEE you......somebody forgot a decimal point.......

There are a number of "sources" for the $$$$'s.......for example, tour school entry fee's (minus the purse and expenses) go into the kitty, etc....
