Was I the only one who thought the Fred Funk forgot Steven Ames' name?

Fred Funk: "I think it is just incredible the quality of play that.... uh.... you played great today.."

haha i felt bad for both of them

It wasn't as painful as Frank Nobilo calling Calvin Peete "Mr. Sifford" on the Post Game show Saturday night.

i heard that too, but then 5 seconds later, Freddie called him Stephen. I think Funk wanted to be talking to Ames (i.e second person) rather than talking to the crowd (using 3rd person)

One of the announcers also called Jose Maria Olafabal (sp) Sergio several times.

... man im hispanic so its funny hearing gringos pronouncing these names wrong. Olazalbal for example, is pronounced Oh-La-Sa-bal. Villegas = V-yeg-as. They get the easy ones like cabrera and garcia but they really mess up the others lol

I'm also hispanic, and wonder about this myself, but....................There are different dialects and pronunciations in different countries that you need to be aware of.

For example: Camilo Villegas is correctly pronounced "V-JAY-Gas" in his native Columbia, even though traditional Spanish pronunciation would be "V-YAY-Gas" (or "V-Yeg-as", as you mentioned)

You would think all those announcers would have cheat sheet and you would think they would practice and memorize the CORRECT pronunciations...

My father and I both looked at each other and said the exact same thing..."Did Funk just forget his name?" If you listened close he started to say Stephen but then he switched up and said you. "I just want to congratulate S- you on a great day" or something like that.
