My wife and I are thinking about going to turning stone towards the end of May for a little vacation. What are your thoughts on the place and the golf courses. Thanks.

Kind of in the middle of nowhere...and when i was there last summer it was still a dry casino...but that may not matter to you...then again they do allow you to BYOB

Excellent golf. They don't give away the green fees, and you never know what type of weather conditions you are going to get - played there last June and was freezing and drizzling all day. Casino is okay. Decent amount of tables, slots aren't the best. The new spa at the Lodge is nice. Facility is still dry, but like the first post said you can bring your own.

the casino and resort have gotten A LOT nicer and bigger in recent years. It is BYOB, but in my experience it's clean, and not that bad for a central NY casino in the middle of nowhere.

The golf is great. Shenendoah is the oldest course, more of a links style if I remember correctly. Really a great course. Haven't played it in about 10 years.
The newer courses (can't vouch for the spelling here) Kaluyat and Atunyote are both gorgeous. Haven't played Atunyote (where the PGA event is) but I have played Kaluyat and loved it. I would go back here any time, and recommend either course.
Most of my friends live in Boston or CT though, so casino/golf trips usually are at Mohegan or Foxwoods for us, out of conveniece.

I go up there quite often. If anyone hasnt been there recently i recomend going. The entire place is just top notch. Everything from the casino, resteraunts, and especially golf. The worst thing really is the weather. But if you happen to get rained out one day just go to there golf dome and hit balls in there. Khaluyat is just a brutal golf course, very nice but really hard! Shenendoah is great and the tour course is the best conditioned golf course iv ever played.

Haven't played golf there so I can't comment on that. As far as hotel and casino go.....They are clean which is a plus. If you frequent casinos like Vegas or AC or Foxwoods you will be disappointed with Turning Stone. If you are not much of a gambler then you will be fine. It is in the middle of nowhere as a previous poster mentioned. While it is not in the middle of a hotspot I believe you are within 20 minutes or so of Syracuse, NY. It is BYOB. But you can get soda, ice, etc at a "bar" there and mix your own drink.
