Playing in a 2 best balls of 4 tournament Sunday. Push my tee shot on #10 a bit, lands in the right rough. The driving range runs parallel to the hole and is on the right. Get to my ball, sitting down a bit but not too bad, I take a closer look and see something yellow under the ball. At first I thought it was a bottle cap, but turns out my ball is sitting on an imbedded range ball.

Call my partners over and it's decided to proceed under the moveable obstruction rule.

Isn't the Ball Interfering With Play rule only applied to balls in your match or foursome?

Rule 22, which covers balls assisting or interfering with play, states that "Except when a ball is in motion, if a player considers that another ball might interfere with his play, he may have it lifted." So, it doesn't matter whose ball it is. You can have it lifted if it interferes with your play.

I think treating the embedded range ball as an obstruction was correct in this case.
