Interesting story on the national news last night. I'd heard a little about Tiger having a niece that was showing some talent for the game.
They look more brother - sister than, uncle - niece. Guess time will tell if she shares other of his traits. In reading a few additional on-line stories, Tiger has worked with her on her game, had Haney give her a few lessons, and offers up encouragement.
She seems like a nice well rounded girl, also on her HS track team

When was this aired? I watched 60 minutes last night and did not see this. Last night's segments were on Joe Biden, coal fired power plants and elephants in South Africa.

I had the opportunity to caddy for her at the US Girls Junior a couple of years ago. They are the nicest family. She can bomb the ball, must run in the family. She is now at Wake and likes it from what I hear. Look out for her in a couple more years.

my bad, it was the lead in story on the national news, just before 60 minutes.
Had a beer while grilling and then a bottle of wine with dinner, so of course the memory
cells were a little fuzzy.
Heck, summer has arrived early here in upstate NY, 90* the last few days.!

It was on the NBC Nightly News. I enjoyed seeing scenes from a local course as well (Old Town CC).

She is a very nice young woman, very down to earth. Have known her for about 4 years, she played high school golf and summer JGAA tourneys with my daughter. She was never pressured to follow on at Stanford and like Amanda... education is first and foremost. Xavier prep year in and out could beat most women's D-1 teams. Over 30 state championships and always ranked number 1 in the nation for girls high school golf. Don't really follow them now that my daughter is in college but I have heard they now they have the Columbian, Canadian and British junior champion. The only state title they lost was when Grace Park left Xavier and went to Horizon so she could stick it to Sister Lynn Winsor.

Yeah, it was cool seeing a local course highlighted during this segment, even if it is a somewhat goofy, and significantly overrated track. A few really good holes, and a few really lousy holes, the rest basically average.

Overrated? Really? I love the course and my friend is the greenskeeper there. I think it's a great track.
I also met her at a local deli up the street awhile back and saw her walking up Polo Rd. with friends the other day. My son goes to First Assembly School so cruising down Polo and watching the sorority girls jogging is a nice daily treat for me this time of year.

Regarding my comment about OTCC being overrated - that's just my opinion. I played it about 2 years ago, and I had heard lots of superlatives about the course prior to playing it. For me, honestly it was a considerable letdown, mainly because of 3 or 4 holes that were just not very good holes, and were such that I'd call 'em goofy golf holes. I agree that there were several very good holes as well.
The members there apparently think it's god's gift to golf, as a couple of them said "we consider this course to be the Augusta of NC".... NOT!!!! It just wasn't a course that made me interested in going back and playing again, and I certainly wouldn't want to play it all the time as my home course.
It is situated in a pretty setting, which enhances the feel, but overall I just didn't see what all the fuss is about. Again, just my opinion - doesn't mean that I expect anybody or everybody to agree.

It's cool. And I understand. There are other courses that I feel the same about. There are always a few screwy holes even on a good course. And yes, it's HARDLY the Augusta of NC. That would actually be Grandfather Golf and CC in Linville. When Augusta closes after the MASTERS, about half of the Augusta members go there. I worked there in college and loved every second of it. THAT is an amazing track!
The former DOG of Forsyth CC is now the DOG at Grandfather. If you can get on (miracle from the good Lord himself) DO NOT TURN IT DOWN!

Thanks for the recommendation re: Grandfather G & CC. I think a member at my club that I play with occasionally is also a member there - looks like I need to be wrangling a game there!!
Thanks!

Great, now girls get to experience the terror of seeing the name "Woods" on the leaderboard.

Maybe it's because of the name Cheyenne, but you can see the Native American bloodline. And it makes it more apparent in Tiger as well.
