Let me set up the story for you. I go by this little driving range on my way home from work. By little I mean a few clubs and a fridge with drinks in a single wide trailor. My little brother got his first set of irons yesterday, we were actually going in there to look for a bag. As soon as he walks in the guy goes "no clubs in here", I don't know if I was out of line but I basically told him where he could go. I told him I'm a good customer and we were actually looking for a bag, and he shouldn't be so blunt, that he could have acted less rudely. Is bring clubs in there a big taboo act? I've never been in that situation and I was more upset at how he said it than what he said. Any feedback would be great.

Clubs in a pro shop is never allowed at most clubs, its the easiest way for people to steal.
He could have had more tact

the driving range i went to in Ohio was an all season range with heaters for cold days, I took my clubs in all the time never had them say anything rudely to me. Heck they didn't even say anything when i took my own putter to the green where you are supposed to try out the putters that are for sale. i think you just ran into a bad place, i don't see why they should really care as long as you are not swinging in the club house or something... of course i never had my bag anywhere near the items for sale, but this place also has indoor golf so maybe that's why they don't care...

I am the manager of a range and had to put signs on the doors, Please leave clubs outside. Why would you bring your clubs inside? Do you take them in the pro shop when you go in to pay? Many people still bring them in, I normally don't say anything til they swing them around and knock something off a shelf. I have had people try to come in with their bags attached to pull carts. Idiots!!

The only way to get to our driving range is through the front door and out the back. I can also see the point about theft. Also, I would never bring them in a club house.

I hear what some of you are saying, for one though, it would be impossible for anyone to steal anything from a small trailor, for two, it probably just made me mad because he didn't have a bag yet and we were going to get one there. Big difference between that and bringing a pullcart in, who deos that? lol

In hindsight perhaps it would have been appropriate to go in first and explain that you are looking for a bag for a new set of clubs your brother just received and ask if you can bring the clubs in to try out with different bags.
