I've had an established hdc at a private club for the last 3 years. Just quit the club. I don't plan on playing at any one course, but will still play a few rounds a month at various courses. Can I keep my history online anywhere, or do I need to establish a "home course"?

You need to establish a home course. Don't know how it works where you're at, but in Michigan you can pay for your handicap at most any golf course, and have your scores moved over there so your handicap history isn't lost.

That's what I did. It cost me $20 to get a GHIN card at the local muni where I get lessons. I'll enter all rounds I play there as home even though I'll probably play most rounds on a different course. Online entry is great.

Do you change the slope and rating, or every course at the same as your home course?

I use GHIN to lookup the slope/rating of the course/tees that I play. It makes it real simple. So when I play the course I normally play, I'll just use the slope/rating that GHIN has for them. Same thing if I were to play a course 1 time.

Check with your state's golf association. The New York State Golf Association offers this for golfers who aren't members of any club.
Want a USGA Handicap Index, but don't belong to a golf club?
With Internet eClubs in six New York State areas, the NYSGA can help golfers who previously had not found a club to join. Belonging to the NYSGA and obtaining an official Handicap Index are now just a button-click away. Utilize eClub to post scores, track statistics, get a Handicap Index and discounted entry fees for tournaments!

Thanks guys, good input. I too have entered scores online from home, it was the "home course" issue that had me confused. I'll check with my state GA.
Adk Jake - nice looking Westie...we have one as well. Quite the energy!
