You are a late 30, early 40 something and it's Friday night golf with the guys. You are meeting the family for dinner or heading out for a few drinks with the guys after. You are wearing a nice pair of Haggar Cool 18 or similar shorts and a nice Nike/Adidas, Greg Norman or similar collared golf shirt. What kind/style of shoes are you wearing?

I have always been a gym shoe type of guy with shorts but they are too casual for the quailty of the shorts I wear. Slides, flip flops or sandles may be ok for the drive home but not for going out after ------- or are then?

Bring me into the modern age, what's everyone wearing?

I wear about 4 different pairs of slip on boat shoes or casual slip on shoes. To each their own though.

Can't go wrong with the classic Sperry Topsiders. If you want to spend a few more bucks check out the casual line from Johnston Murphy. I have the "Kenny Penny" in tan and black....great casual shoe if you need to step up from flip flops and tennis shoes.

I am still a sneaker guy, (still early 30s), but only in good condition, not the ratty grass cutting pair.

There are good enough down here in Atlanta for all but the best steak houses. Many down here drop the socks and wear some slip on Cole Haans or Johnston & Murphy's.

Check these out from Jeffrey Fitzhugh, the McGurk.

It depends on where you live. Here in Florida if you can wear shorts (just about everywhere by the way) you can wear flip flops, however I have taken to wearing topsiders myself just to be different from all of the flop wearers. One thing to remember is that men don't wear sandals,if there is a strap on the back it is for girls. Also I think slides are for grandpa's! Turned 32 years old today by the way. Just my Opinion Todd

+2 on the Sperry Top-Siders, only problem is they show off the golf shoe tan, hehe.

comfort over fashion for me, I wear sandals.

I think Skechers makes some of the most tacky looking shoes out there, but the "footloose" model is pretty sharp and is BY FAR the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I have both of the ones below (purchased from Kohl's for around $50 each...my fiancee' saw them and knew I'd love them). They go great with golf attire (the brown ones are more "distressed" than the photo shows, a great look):

Please people don't wear sandals or flip flops out to dinner. There's nothing worse than getting ready to eat a nice meal and then seeing some old man's nasty corn chip toe nails. Cover those things up!

Depends on where you're going for dinner or drinks. If it's a sports bar with the fellas, then flip flops are fine. If it's a sit down restaurant (Outback or similar), flip flops might be OK in certain places like here in Florida. But to be safe, loafers would be best. It's always best to be over dressed. Cole Haan makes some nice casual loafers, especially in the Nike Air line.

18 -- I have a collection of Sperry Top Siders. I also sport a lot of loafers/slip-ons and have a pair of Ralph Lauren low-cut sneakers that look pretty nice.

I'm always wearing golf shirts (Puma, mostly) and shorts in the summer, so I've built up my share of shoes to match anything.

Croc's (Tan) or Merrels (Brown)...........they are both very comfortable.

Just make sure no socks with the Sperry's. Don't be that guy.

I'm 28 and it really just depends on where you live. I wear flip flops pretty much no matter what. I live in Florida too though. Age shouldn't matter. If I see someone considerably older than me with flip flops on after golf, I always just think to myself that they are someone I would like to hang out with. wink.gif

I pretty much am always wearing these before and after a round. I love them. Nothing wrong with going out to dinner/drinks with them on. I don't wear anything but flip flops with shorts unless I'm going to the gym. I've got some good brown ones too. I don't see too many people at the restaurant checking out footwear. My non-golfing friends rip on my ankle tan lines, but that's about it.
