I have been looking at getting some Oakley sunglasses with the photochromic transition lenses for the summer and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these on the golf course? Any other sunglasses one would recommend for on the course? thanks

Better not think about it too long......Oakley is pulling them, at least the flak jacket XLJ G40 transition lens. Not sure what the story is, but they no longer will ship orders on accessory lenses. It also sounded like once the stock runs out on prebuilt pairs, they will no longer be offered. TBD if they release a new color with that technology.

I can't tell you how they work yet as I'm waiting on my pair to arrive.....

Go Flak Jaket with G30 lens. You will not believe the results. Played 2 rounds with them this weekend and absolutely loved it.

Just curious where you got this information? That's not the story out of Transitions. To my understanding, they were not offering them as accessory lenses because of demand for the production model, but would offer the accessory lense option once production was in line with demand.

I had a pair of prescription Transition lenses in Oakley e-wires. They worked great for me when it's shine and bright. A little dark when there's overcast or sunset. I used it in operating room as well since they wrap around the eyes and protect well. Recently lost it though. Still searching around the house.

I got it from a couple managers @ Oakley direct sales. I've had a hell of a fiasco over this lens. My pair arrived yesterday direct from Oakley much to my displeasure. I was originally told they had a few pairs left in the warranty dept and I had to send in my frames to get them -- seems somewhat silly but I sent in my existing frames. They don't have any XLJ G40 transition lenses left and are not getting anymore of this color, so rather than calling to check with me just sent the non-XLJ version. Supposedly the managers even spoke to the Oakley buyer for this product and was told they will not be getting any more. If you want the regular version of the G40 transition, act quick. If you want the XLJ version, you'll have to hunt for retailers that may have ordered them and have in stock.

This is absolutely a retarded Oakley decision if it was their call and not Transitions pulling the plug for whatever reason. They have a huge marketing campaign in every golf magazine highlighting this lens in XLJ form, a big flash feature on oakley.com....etc.....and they don't have it and aren't getting any more? Idiots. What is even more idiotic is that you can place an order on oakley.com (will show backorder shipping in X days) or via custom sub-site within oakley.com.

I'm just packing it in and going back to my G30s. I've always had great luck with Oakley and have purchased a lot of gear over the years....but it sure has gone in the crapper since the Luxotica buyout.

I'm trying the Tifosi Optics sunglasses this year. They are a fraction of the price of the top brands. A pair is about $60 for a 3 lense system, including a golf version. If there is a 'G" in style number, they are the golf version. And they offer a transition styles. I like them, so far.
