When I see the leaderboard and there are 2 or more people tied at the top, why is the next place 3rd or however many people are tied for first. Isn't the next place 2nd?
for example yesterday
T1 k perry -12
T1 a cabrera -12
3 c campbell
It's not a big deal, but I always wondered why they did this.

it's because he is not second, he is third. The tied -12 are first and second combined

I always looked at it, he would be in second place, the first 2 are tied for first. If two teams in another sport tie for first, they say the next team is in second place.
There has to be a second place, if you have T1 then 3rd place, where is the second slot?

1 player - T1st Perry
2 players - T1st Cabrera
3 players - 3rd Campell
Cant be second when there are two players ahead of you.

There is no tie for first. One of those tied for first will be second. Which means the next will be third.

I know it is right, I guess it just looked wrong to see 1st place and then 3rd place. Tricks on the eye perhaps.
I know I have been out of school for awhile, but I thought the math was right. LOL.
Kind of like at the end of the tournament, when they listed Cabrera and Perry first, well only Cabrera was first.
I guess it is a slow day, this crossed my mind, so I thought to have a discussion on it.

It's a Money thing. Besides the Winner/2nd (from PlayOff), you have to go tied for next combined to EQUAL payment of the moneys being distributed to go DOWN to the next ranks - because if you kept in line with the one UP, then you would have way too much money and it would never meet the Purse.
I hope I explained that sufficiently.............. I don't know how to phrase it properly!

I get it. Like I said, it just looked funny.
