phil and tiger both just birdie the 2nd to go -5. hope one of these guys can make it come down to the last putt.
mcmski
why are they turning it into matchplay between Tiger and Phil?
mtsmith
^^^^"Phil making his birdie, knowing that Tiger has a tap in for his birdie....."

hahahaha

All Square thru 2.

Guess there is two tournies going on today, cause neither Tiger nor Phil is in it.

ratings. a lot of people like to tune into the big names of the sport. Kobe, LeBron, MJ, etc..
MtlJeff
Steve Flesch is at -6 now...keep an eye on it

yeah i hope they show more than just tiger and phil before the leaders come on. This pairing could actually be bad for TV overall
shift
phil birdie 3rd. -6. go phil. how sweet would that be to win the masters while paired with tiger.
GetInTheHole!!!
Wow 240 yd par 3 - and what are these guys hitting in there - pitching wedges? lol.
ZonaHooker
LOL. Faldo just said Sabbatini looks like a Easter egg with the shirt he has on.

And the sound from Phil and Tiger's iron shots on that par 3, wow.
mcmski
So what do you guy think it'll take to win? I think most of the guys out there have a shot if they can go low today. It makes for an exciting Masters partytime2.gif
mtsmith
I say 12 wins
stealthontour
I feel sorry for whoever wins this because when they get the DVD highlights they will have about 10mins airtime from R4 of themselves as the rest will be the Tiger v Phil matchplay special....
cAsE sEnSiTiVe
The problem with trying to make up so much ground at Augusta, with some of the Sunday pins, is your margin of error is nil, yet you must force yourself to keep your foot on the pedal....and eventually the course grabs you. Why do you think the stat of practically every winner coming from the final group is there for all to see? It's not a coincidence.

true, but at least phil is playing well right now. he's looking at another decent birdie opportunity. tiger, on the other hand, is not worth the air time right now.
cAsE sEnSiTiVe
I've always in previous years recently, enjoyed watching the first page of the leaderboard start their day teeing it up on #1, checking their nervous state. I guess because they are following these two, we'll only get the final group....how terribly sad. TV is no longer for fans of golf.....but fans of hype. Might as well be Entertainment Tonight. At least I could stare at Mary Hart's legs. LOL
shift
phil another birdie, now just 4 back. birdie 3 of the first 5 holes. he's eating tiger alive.
soberguy16
the dvd might be of tiger and phil because phil looks like hes gonna shoot low 60s right now...this could be an awesome back nine if one of them is close to the lead
jaskanski
Apologies for my locked thread - still loving it though.
#1 + #2 at their best? Bring it on, I say.
stealthontour
I'm so glad I dumped Phil off my fangolf team for the Masters after rd1.... russian_roulette.gif

Come on Angel!

Come on Phil!
shift
oh man, phil is on fire. 6th hole par 3--got a birdie putt coming up from 3-4 feet. tiger must be feeling the pressure
cAsE sEnSiTiVe
If anyone makes serious noise, it will be Phil, for he has the go for broke mentality that is necessary. Tiger in the last few years plays Augusta like someone with a bit too much respect for the difficulty of the course.
jaskanski
Check out the flames from Phil's iron play.... awesome golf.
ghodges
Phil definitely is in go low mode. He may make this REAL interesting!

What pressure? they got no choice but to aim at flags and go low. despite what the anouncers are saying, they are not playing each other, they are still chasing KP and Cabrera.

It is fun to watch the side game though.

Nice start for the leaders there.

are you softening your stance a bit Smitty? Yesterday you were a tough sell that both of these guys weren't done

as i write this Phil now within 3 of the lead. Still wouldn't pick him. But you gotta admit -4 wasn't out of it

tiger is human...another golfer who's partner is making birdies left and right will get mentality affected.
muzz
Phil is looking good right now that's for sure.

Not really softening Jeff. I still think -4 needs a LOT of help from those above. As I mentioned above, you just can't keep your foot down around here and get away with it all day long.

OMFG!!! that shot from Phil....well, I dunno what to say about that!
TheNatural72
Go get em Phil!
shift
OMG - phil's hook on the 7th. holy fing s*****. another birdie tap in for phil
GetInTheHole!!!
holy crap ballz
cobraguy
Damn what a shot! Go Phil! He's right in this thing guys!
Eagle006
Amazing shot by Phil from the trees!
kyldo
WOW the iron shot Phil just hit
jaskanski
Awesome! and Tiger blamed the wind... Phil's got the karma now.
havenrab
Phil goin nutzo. What a sick shot.
cAsE sEnSiTiVe
What distresses me is that we aren't seeing all the shots of the leaders. Very sad...they've earned it.
stealthontour
Phil @ 7, that is shot of the tournament right there......
soberguy16
this is the best masters ever
Konklifer
They need to be following Phil with a fire extinguisher.
shift
between perry, cabrera, phil and campbell...who will make the first bogey and give one back?
MtlJeff
I agree with you Smitty, that eventually i think Phil's got a double or triple bogey coming. But what awesome television so far

i'd be surprised if Cabrera or Perry break par today, i think -10 or -11 will win. Nothing against those guys. Just my gut
jaskanski
What a putt from Tiger though - clapping.gif Phil's still the man at the mo...

+1 It wasn't to many years ago you couldn't watch the front nine!
Eagle006
Credit to the committee for setting the course up the way they have. It's making for some brilliant golf so far.

Are you watching Hootie Johnson? This is the Masters as it should be.

You very well could be right. I think if Phil can get tied by Amen Corner, he has a shot. I think it would be difficult to have to play aggressively through that stretch.

Campbell on 3? I LOVE THE MASTERS! partytime2.gif
