Just got done watching Day 2.....I know its still early but a heck of alot of heck got cut today.
Who has been your biggest "wow" player?
Who has been your biggest letdown for the Masters?
For me.
Biggest Wow - Todd Hamilton
Biggest Letdown - Tie between Alvero Quiros and Loius Oosthizuin. I wanted those guys to play well.

Biggest Wow: Kenny Perry
Biggest Letdown: Ernie Els. Sad he has missed the cut 3 years in a row.

I thought Goosen would play better. I thought he would make a run this year after getting some things cleared up in the last few months.
Biggest surprise has to be Todd Hamilton. He has one top ten in a major in his career. The dude has been sinking like a stone ever since he won the Open title. Unless he gets a top 16, or wins, he might never be back at Augusta.

Biggest Suprise:
AK Today, 11 birdies and injured, way to get into contention when it seemed hopeless.
Biggest Letdown:
Brandt Snedeker, my favorite player by a longshot, thought he might get back strokes on the back 9 to make the cut, had my vanderbilt rally sweatshirt on and everything. I hope he gets a major soon, US OPEN and Masters last year he played great, he deserves one.

Letdown: Goosen and Johnson are killing me in my Master's pool. Just killing me.....
Surprise: Has to be Hamilton. Every other name that made the cut isn't surprising. Most of them have a history of playing well at Augusta. Not Hamilton. We do know that the former Open Champion Hamilton has the gnads to play well under the pressure of being in contention in a Major. So I expect him to remain in contention through the 3rd round.
Pretty interesting weekend ahead for us.....

Biggest Wow Kenny Perry and Angel Cabrera
Biggest Let Down Adam Scott,Erie Els and Retief Goosen

Apr 10 2009, 09:52 PM
Yes I would say that Adam Scott is the biggest let down with Zach Johnson (70, 80) a close second.
I am gonna say my biggest wow player has to be Anthony Kim. After shooting 75 coming back and having 11 birdies is amazing. 1st Masters to boot, way to go AK!!

Adam Scott's best finish in his last 4 tournaments is 66th.
I see nothing surprising about the way he played. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't qualify for next years Masters.

Actually Sergio surprised me. I like the guy, but was expecting him to miss the cut.

At certain times... Hunter Mahan for both

Apr 10 2009, 11:14 PM
Wow- Hamilton, he came so far out of left field.
Letdown - Danny Lee, huge expectations coming of the US Am, Johnnie Walker and shoots 81, ouch. Greg Norman, as everyone was playing hopeless romantic and hoping he would be contending, but yet again comes up short.

Wow: The pretty good play of Sandy Lyle
Letdown: That Tiger made the cut
jtizzle29
Apr 10 2009, 11:38 PM
Yeah Hunter Mahan sure looked good at times and then terrible at times, same with Rory McIllroy.
Overall most impressive I'd say is Kenny Perry, nothing like a blemish free score card.
Most disappointing to me has to be Tiger, he's Tiger Woods you expect more from him than a ho-hum 72 at Augusta (but thats just me, huge Tiger fan and hope he wins but something sure needs to click very quickly tomorrow). A close second to me is Stewart Cink, nothing like a closing 41 on Friday, really thought he looked good on Thursday.

Biggest Wow:Phils 2nd into 13 today (Friday)
Letdown: Freddy, I really thought we might see something special this week

Biggest letdown was McIlroy playing himself out of it on 16 and 18 today, +5 on those two holes, despite no penalty shots or unusual scenarios. He had an uphill birdie putt, and a greenside bunker.
Biggest surprise was so much pre-tournament hype on Norman and Couples. I won plenty of bets against them and I guess I have TV to thank.

Tough choice between Ernie and Adam Scott. Who would think that Els has missed 3 consecutive cuts at Augusta!!! Everyone talks about Winged Foot with Phil,
but that loss in 2004 seemed to damage Ernie's psyche as well. Adam Scott is IMOP way too overhyped.

Not really that surprising to me. Sandy seems to make the cut at the Masters quite often. I know he has had some nice rounds there in the recent past.

Biggest wow for me is Sergio. He had plenty of chances to fold and he didn't. He is showing some grit
Biggest letdown is Tiger. He had many chances to score lower and just failed to capitalize.
Should be a great weekend of golf. Going to root for Sergio but only because I'd like a free driver.

WOW - Hamilton, Perry, Campbell, and AK's comeback.
Let Down - How many times can we list Adam Scottm before we
just come to except it for what it is.
Robert Karlsson, I had expected to do very well.

Biggest Wow: Todd Hamilton, great to see him playing well
Biggest Disappointment: Ernie Els, capable of so much more than mediocre missed cuts every time a major comes around

wow Larry Mize
Super Wow 11 birdies Anthony Kim
Wow birdieing three of the last four and missing the cut sorry Freddy
Nice playing wow Kenny Perry win this thing and shut up all those people that dissed you last year for skipping a couple majors and said it was because you could not
Disappointment Els Norman ( wanted to see him choke Sunday not Friday)

Biggest wow : Kenny Perry. I pciked him in the Masters pool but didn't think he would be -9 after the first two rounds.
Biggest disappointment: TV Coverage not starting until 4:00pm. Not really sure what ESPN was thinking.....
PreppySlapCut
Apr 11 2009, 11:23 AM
Biggest Surprise: Hamilton
Biggest Disappointment: Danny Lee. He gets it to EVEN after going eagle-birdie on 8-9. Then he makes a quintuple bogey 9 on 10, and proceeds to toss up a 47 on the back side...

The dark guy comment won't get you any love here, to be honest.
As far as him hitting fairways, it should serve as a reminder to all.....it's not how you hit it, it's how you roll it. Especially at Augusta.

When will people stop blaming the networks? It's not their doing, it's mandated by the Augusta National Golf Club!! There are a few threads that say as much.....try the search function.
Cheers.

Trevor Immelman, he is starting to sound like Gary Player in interviews.

Surprise: Gary Player - 73 yr old; drove it same length as an average mid handicapper (saw him at the 11th tee on Thursday and he pulled it to the left and barely made the fairway)...Yes he shot 78 on a 7500 yard golf course in major tourney condition.

Surprise - Katayama - Wish they would have shown him more often. When he was on TV, he was smiling, having a good time, making a few birdies with some flair, and the crowd loved it. BTW I'm satisfied with the TV coverage...just wish we could have seen a little more of him as a potential contender.
Disappointment - Z Johnson - had it going Thurs & Fri, then collapse. Bummer.
