yup, you asians with big heads and wide faces can wear oakleys without the side pinch or looking like a fool. if you have a big head you'll understand that its extremely difficult to find proper fitting, good looking sport glasses. Out of excitment I just custom ordered mine a few days ago. Bought the flak jacket with polarized black iridium lenses.

My question now is since my frames are 'asian fit' will the regular interchangable lenses fit these asian frames? The guy at customer service # said yes, but wasnt entirely sure. I think he said ' they should fit'.

rejoice you big headed asians. you too can rock cool sunglasses now!

btw, i'm asian and hence am granted a free pass to poke fun at asians and their funny shaped heads.

sidenote:: are polarized lenses not good for golf, i am contemplating ordering those g30 lenses but wasnt sure if they would be much different from my polarized lenses.

I've had my 'asian fit' flak jackets for the past year. All of the regular lenses will fit on this frame.

I am not Asian but I've got a wide-azz head. biggrin.gif Have never been able to wear Oakleys without getting pinched on my temples, which is an express ticket to a splitting headache.

Anyone recommend a place to buy golf-specific Oakleys that might fit my Asian-esque biggrin.gif melon? I'm a long-time devotee of Maui Jims but I just had the temple break off of mine (not the metal frame, the flexible plastic one) for the third time so I am through with them.

Much appreciated.

oh man... That's a great price! Thanks for sharing the love clapping.gif

the sunglass stores in my area don't have asian fit oakleys only regular fit glasses. I had to custom order mine (because i wanted polarized lenses etched and a victory red 'O' emblem on the sides.

I can't wait! been a big fan of oakley designed glasses but head was too big.
Zlim
pretty messed up that they charge you as much as getting them polarized... I should be getting these as I fit the bill but I'd rather get Maui Jims and they fit my big ole head perfectly.

Dude, this is awesome. I've had trouble with every pair of sunglasses because they'd pinch my temples because my head is too fat. Sold my Half Jackets because of it. Never knew about Asian Fit...definitely going to check them out.

oakley.com sells the rubber nosepads/ear pad things but can you change them yourself?

just an update: Oakley replied to an email stating that accessory lenses for the flak jackets WILL indeed fit the asian fit frames. There is no specific asian fit lenses.

i got the reguar flak jackets and just put the larger nose pads in and they fit just about the same as my asian fit straight jackets.. so i am not too sure the asian fit flak jackets witll be much different,, btw.. polarized lens are NOT good for golf,, get the g30 lens..awesome

I have a pair of half jackets with higher nose pads and they fit nicely. I just got a pair of asian fit flak jackets and they fit even better. I tried on regular flak jackets awhile ago and they hugged my head too much. The asian fit do seem wider to me.

wait, it is my understanding that asian fit oakleys are not any wider than the normal fit. the asian pair only has an enhanced nose bridge section. someone correct me if i'm wrong. I tried the flak jackets and could hardly get them on due to my wide head.

if asian fit are indeed a lot wider than the normal ones then i want a pair. really looking for the white/green ones that imelman was wearing. too bad these aren't an available color option.

"Curvature across the front is reduced to prevent the frame from touching at the cheeks and temples."

Not sure if this is done to the flak jackets, but either way these don't feel like they're hugging my face as bad as the regular ones. Could be because the nose bridge is higher, so they sit better and "feel" wider. Guess it all depends on how wide your head really is.

Sweet!

I was disappointed with my face fitting for Oakley.... ah, my Asian heritage...moved on to Maui Jim.

I know a lot of people swear by Oakley but after having Maui Jim for two years, I am happy with it.

I accidently sat on my Maui Jim and they replaced it with the brand new one..
I had one that had twisted frame, they replaced it with the brand new one.
I had little rubber piece that sits on nose missing, they replaced it with the brand new one.

Now, I have third Maui Jim that I paid for and happier than ever

The Oakley, Asian Fit FRAMES are different, lenses, earsocks and nose bombs are the same. All Flak Jackets come with two sets of nose bombs.

Yes, you can change the earsocks and nose bombs yourself. Just apply some Palmolive to the earstem ends after removing the exsisting earsocks and slide on the new ones.

Polarized lenses are best for reducing glare that can often be present as light reflects or refracts off of roads, water or snow. It will actually reduce your ability to read your cell phone or other digital displays that may be present in your car.

The Black Iridium Polarized are actually one of Oakley's darker lenses (9% light transmission for Extremely Bright Light). They may be too dark for reading greens or when you find yourself in the shade of trees. They are perfect for the beach, fishing, driving, the desert or if your eyes are sensitive to bright light.

The G30 lens was developed for golf as it improve depth perception in the colors blue and green. They enhance contrast and are best in Flat to Medium Light, (30% light transmission)

Any of the following would be great for Golf:

Rose tinted:
G30 (30%)
G30 Black Iridium (25%)
G20 Black Iridium (15%)

Grey base: (neutral)
Slate Iridium (23%)

i just bought the flak jackets with the g30 iridium lenses with the bigger nose pieces. the lenses were way to light. the glare off my wedges (black nickel) and putter (scotty) were still very noticeable. i just switched to the vr28 iridium polarized (these lenses were made for golf as well). they seem much better but i will hit balls tonite and see. i also bought these at the store. without trying glasses on i don't want to just order them online. they apparently don't carry asian fit much in stores since everyone orders online...

I have the "asian fit" half jacket and it barely fits my giant noggin - much better than the "regular fit". The arms still leave tension pressure marks above the ears though. The g30 lens is the best. I have a pair of Maui Jims with polarized lens and I can't stand playing golf with them.

lol at the politcally correct Asian Fit name.

Obviously explains why asians are just smarter as well!

when "asian fit" first came out a few years ago, I think oakley caught a lot of flak for the name. they eventually changed the name to "alternative fit" for a while. but it seems that the hoopla died down and they changed the name back to "asian fit". personally as an asian, i could care less. as long as it wasnt something like "oriental fit". then i think i would have had a problem.
