I had the pleasure of golfing Tetherow Golf Course in Bend, OR yesterday. The weather was absolutely perfect (upper 60's with almost no wind).

This was the first time I've played here after hearing great reviews and nothing but positive comments. I will say all were true. This place is absolutely AMAZING!!!

The price was only $80 walking with 2 fore caddies (1 seasoned caddie and 1 new caddie learning the course).

This place is total first class all the way where they cater to you. Before we even got out of the car, our two caddies met us in the parking lot with a cart greeting us.

They took our bags down to the practice facility while we got ready and paid in the pro shop. Get to the practice facility and all our clubs were cleaned by the caddies and he explained to us how far each practice greens were away (there were 9 to choose from ranging from 80 yards to 270 yards). After we hit each club a few times, the caddie took it from you, wiped it down and watched you hit the club of choice a few times to gauge how far and what type of shot you hit (at least the one watching me). After about 20 minutes out there, headed to the putting green for a few minutes before our tee time.

Our tee time was at 10:50am and there was only one other 4-some in front of us. There was no groups in back of us for more than an hour. We basically had the entire course to ourselves and could take our time and soak everything in.

I'm a 3 handicap and wanted to play the "Kidd" tees (7298 yds / slope 141). Our caddie asked that I go to the pro shop and talk to the gentleman in there about playing those tees. The guy in the pro shop said that I could but they were not even set up yet (no markers on the box) as nobody plays them. He said that the "Black" tees (7100 yds / slope 134) would be a good test and I'd have fun so off we went. I played those tees and my two buddies played the "Sage" tees.

I ended up shooting a 79 from the Blacks (42-37) with a double on one hole and 2 three putts (the greens were extremely slow due to a layer of sand on them and it took a while to get used to).

I asked how much it would cost to be a member and we were told the initiation fee is $30,000 with a monthly fee of $450 (just a little out of my price range). Our caddie also stated that there were still plans of building a hotel of some sort nearby and that there were going to be 350-380 houses built along the course. A few of the big houses are built on 10 acre lots (Drew Bledsoe has a house a few miles away from the course also).

The caddies were great. The seasoned caddie knew I wanted more precise distances on approach shots and par 3's. He'd come up to me and say something like "156 to the pin, 140 front, 180 back, left is dead, right is a good miss. Green slops back to front. With your draw, I like a good 9." They also took care of everything from wiping clubs after every hit, raking traps, getting us water and apples at the "comfort" stations, etc. They really made the day more enjoyable.

Here are a 'few' pictures of the beauty. The only other course that I've seen that would even come close to the layout and features would be Chambers Bay in Tacoma, WA (site of the US Open in 2015).

Yes, played that course in early 2008 and it was fantastic. The best golfing experience I have ever had and that includes Bandon. I am planning to go back this year sometime. Our forecaddie Rusty was excellent and would run out and show me my target lines off the tees. If I won the lottery, it would be the 1st course I joined. clapping.gif

Just a great exprience that included my father playing his best round ever. If anyone has a chance to play, do it!!!

The $80 rate is going on for a little bit. The caddie mentioned it going up around May 1st, but he wasn't for certain. And right now, it's cart path only. We chose to walk so we could chat with the caddies and experience the true layout of the course. Will definitely play it again.

nice pics...was the course just aerated though...

Is this course open to the public or members only?

Open to the public for now. You can get discounts by having access to a OB Sports Management Card. I own one from Langdon Farms. It will eventually be private, but with the economy and the housing industry tanking, they have not been able to pull in enough people to the area. Good for us on the public side as this is the coolest course I have ever played.

Right now, open to the public. They are selling memberships right now for $30k. Heard rumors about going private, but who knows with the economy the way it is.

No aeration. Just perfect fairways and sandy greens. I would guess if they brushed all the sand off the greens and cut them short, it would be extremely tough to keep your ball on some of the greens due to the extreme undulations and hills.

OMG. Thanks!

I've been waiting for pics forever. I have had plans to play here forever.

Going next month I think. Can't wait.

Pictures really don't do it justice. Hopefully you can still get the $80 rate, but I heard that the price will go up soon.

I think when I emailed Martin (who happens to be a member here too!) he said $150, but that was last year... in season.

I might just end up driving the 3 hours by myself on a weekday and do it. I've got the itch.
