Wore a new pair of these shoes for the first time yesterday and got the worst heel blisters I've ever had. Do these things need to be broken in?
I did a search and saw a few posts complaining about heel problems with the 3.0s, but would appreciate input from long-term use....
Thanks.

I am sporting a blister on my right heel from Saturday. First day walking with them (wore them twice riding). Some sand got in the top of my ped socks. Hoping it gets better. Never had blisters from my 2.0's.

Below is the email I sent to Adidas...I can't even wear shoes today!
"To Whom It May Concern:
I am contacting you to let you know of the incredible dis-pleasure I just experienced with your Tour 360 3.0 golf shoes. I purchased a brand new pair of these online last week and wore them on the course for the first (and last) time today.
I had previously tried these shoes on in a local store prior to buying them online, and they seemed to be quite comfortable for the minute or two I wore them. However, when I went out to walk 18 holes today at my club, I was experiencing a great deal of pain in my right heel by the time I reached the third tee. By the fourth hole, the pain was also in my left heel.
I was in the process of getting the worst blisters I have ever experienced. The shoes were rubbing the backs of my heels with every step I took. I tried three times to adjust the shoes; looser, tighter, then looser again. Nothing worked and the rubbing continued.
After the fifth hole I could no longer play, much less walk; as the pain was so excrutiating!! I had to manage to walk / hobble all the way back to the clubhouse in absolute agony. It was as if someone was cutting into the backs of my feet with a knife!
When I finally got back and removed the shoes, I witnessed the large chunks of skin peeling off my heels....the pain was so intense that I could not wear ANY shoes to drive home.
Not only did your $179 golf shoes cause me to give up my golf game after five holes, but they caused such bad wounds that I will most likely need large bandages for the next week.
I have no idea how Adidas can produce a shoe it claims to be "the most advanced" golf shoe ever when the heel of the shoe inflicts such injury!!! I have been playing golf for twenty years and have NEVER experienced wounds like this from a golf shoe....and yours caused them after just three holes!
Since I bought these shoes online I have no store to return them to. Furthermore, they are now no longer new. I would appreciate someone from Adidas contacting me to let me know what to do with these things. I am out a lot of money for the trust I put in Adidas to produce a solid, premium golf shoe. But instead of getting an "advanced" piece of "equipment" as you call them, I received the most "advanced" blisters I have ever had!"

Yup, had the exact same problem with mine, and I have purchased 4 pairs of the Tour 360 line-up, with the assumption that these would be the same as their predecessors, BUT NO......they are sitting in my trunk collecting dust, havent worn them since the first outing and my foot still refuses to get into them!!

Sorry to hear about that experience....I have a pair and they were great right out of the box. I had an interesting experience with a pair of Nikes TW 8's that I had worn for about 18 rounds last summer and were well broken in....wore them on a spring golf fling this year and first day after about 4 holes I developed blisters exactly as you described....no idea why!! Needless to say the rest of the golf trip was a bit painful but between moleskin, cart golf and liquid painkillers I got through it!

I bought them when they first went came out and walked torrey pines. I too got a heel blister. I thought they were not broken it but it continued for a month. I never had a problem with the 2.0"s so I called Taylormade-Adidas and they said the original first few runs had a problem with being too tight around the heel. They said go back to the golf shop where you bought it and they will do a warranty exchange for free. I have been playing the new pair for a month and a half now with no issues at all.
Good Luck

No. I have never experienced anything like this before. My feet are quite normal and average. If Adidas is to design and market a shoe to the masses, it had better not shred one's heels after three holes. Also, based on some other posts I found, I appear to not be alone...

Because you mentioned that you had no store to return them to. If you had bought them where you tried them on you wouldn't have that problem. I have no problem with online sales, and of course the consumer can choose the price they feel is fair, through the competitive marketplace. Having worked in golf retail in the past, I am drawing attention to the fact that there is a benefit from supporting local retailers and giving them a chance at personalized customer service.
Fit is not an issue of quality. Every brand and often models within a brand use different lasts to sculpt their shoes. I for one have incurred blisters from Footjoys, Nikes, Eccos, adidas. I guess my foot is a little less standard than yours as I have a narrow heel. I love the fit of the new adidas 360 Ltd, and 360 3.0. I did not fare as well in the Powerband.
Go to you local retailer, have your foot measured for width, ask the staff for the shoe model that fits your needs, i.e. wider heel pocket.
I would suggest Nike, as they have a lower heel counter, or Ecco as they too are lower and wider around the ankle.
Good luck.

correct socks go a long way towards making sure you're comfortable too
it's not suprising that brand new shoes aren't the best right away, sometimes things need a bit of time to loosen up and get comfortable

Not trying to sound lika a jerk, but i find it somehow amousing that you complain about blisters on your first round out with new shoes. I would think everyone knew it is smart to put on band aid (like Compeed or other against blisters) prior to wearing a new pair of golf shoes. If you do this, you will break em in and save yourself the pain from blisters.
I have this problem with all of my golf shoes, not just the Adidas. But after a round or two, i will wear them without the band aid, and they fit great!

Thanks. I appreciate your advice and can assure you that I do support local retailers....heavily! As stated, this was an impulse internet purchase. Having previously tried the shoes on I hadn't foreseen this issue....Again, they felt comfortable. They seemed like a quality shoe with well thought-out design elements. I could not have known they would turn out to be heel-shredders from my trying them on in the same manner as everyone tries on shoes...put em on, walk around a bit, make a few swing motions, etc...

In my experience, most modern golf shoes do not need to be broken in. As with most athletic footwear, they should be good right out of the box. I have never had this issue with Footjoy (many pairs of DryJoys), my Ecco saddles or Nike. That's why I asked the question about break-in in the first post.
Also, what I am now suffering with are not your average, everyday blisters my friend....I will post a picture.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. :yuck:
LMAO!! I'm sorry for posting the picture, but I thought maybe it was neccessary to prove my point. No golf shoe to do that to a person...especially after only five holes and a walk back to the clubhouse.

I always keep some blister pads in my bag and slap one on if I feel a heel starting to get hot.

Wore a new pair of these shoes for the first time yesterday and got the worst heel blisters I've ever had. Do these things need to be broken in?
I did a search and saw a few posts complaining about heel problems with the 3.0s, but would appreciate input from long-term use....
Thanks.
Ouch - read all the posts. Sorry for your pain. I have worn the 360 Adidas for many years - but here are some things I found about them:
1) these shoes do not fit everyone. Adidas run narrow so you either have to get a Wide pair in your normal size, or go up 1/2 size. But you said you tried these on before buying. The older Adidas Z Traxion Tours etc. fit more like a dress shoe. The lasts (shape) on of the 360s is more like a sneaker....different..and the heel slips like a sneaker. Their Powerbands might fit you better.
2) they have a memory foam insert so your foot takes a little while to "seat" into the shoe - which takes a few rounds. So unless you constantly adjust them you may blister.
3) Wear good sox , or put some vaseline under a bandaid, or put a piece of athletic tape over your ankle.
I would simply call Adidas customer service. They are fantastic - albeit you already popped off in your letter. Call them anyways and ask them for advice. Don't b**** at them....frankly they will simply tell you that your foot shape is not optimal for that shoe, and will probably try to get you into a pair of their Powerbands which is also a different footshape.
If your experience is like mine - Adidas will do what is right. But don't be a crab apple...it's not like they recommended the shoes to you - you made the decision based on your own research - right?
As for your current blisters let them dry for a day or two. Before you play again - buy some 2nd Skin by Spenco. Cut a piece, and place it over the blister, then a band aid, then an "X" of athletic tape across your ankle. It will be sore but you can play 36 holes that way.
And buy new sox. :-)
Good luck.

I have several pair of 360's...and love them. No issues right out of the box. I will say that I have narrow feet (wear a C in FJ Classics)...and would have to agree with the previous poster that Adidas runs narrow.

The flap of skin that was covering the wound was hanging on by a thread...the shoes ground it completely off...wasn't gonna stay there anyway.

Thanks for the input. I am calling Adidas today as I have not received a response to the email. I'll do my best to go easy on them...lol

I had this exact problem with Adidas Tour 360 3.0's-- both of my heels rubbed totally raw like the picture. I bought them from TGW on 2/19. I had concluded that that's the price you pay for buying online, but seeing this thread has me convinced there was something wrong with the initial run of this shoe. Btw, with the amount of pressure and friction these shoes created for me, there is NO amount of breaking in that would ever make them wearable. It was like box cutters were stickout of the back of the heels of each shoe. I could barely walk in broken-in loafers, two pairs of socks, and blister pads for a week after I tried to play in the Adidas. Yes some shoes fit some feet better than others, but I've never experienced anything like this and I am certain these things have a defective heel cup. I just e-mailed TGW to let them know about this problem. Hopefully they'll let me exchange them towards 360 LTD's or Nike's.

The first round I had with my FootJoy SYNR-G shoes I had some small red spots, but no blister. The bigger issue I had was with the collar digging up into the bottom of my ankle...the part that sticks out. With any snug fitting shoe, you need to wear them around the house for a few hours before you take them to the course. Walk your dog, mow the lawn, go to the range, etc. NEVER try to buy some shoes and go straight to the course!

You're askng for trouble if you do that. I wear nothing but Adidas and never had problems with any of them, including the 3.0s.

Just today I actually had a very similar incident with the brand new Ecco's that I bought yesterday. They felt soooo good on in the store. Even on the range, I had a great session on the range. Best feeling and more stable than my old FJs. Except by the 3rd hole I had the start of a big blister on my right heel. By the 5th I had both heels blistered. For the rest of the front 9 I walked barefoot because they hurt so bad. My guess is I had the wrong socks on because they kept sliding down and that was the real issue.
Sorry to hear about your situation and good luck!

Glad I'm not alone with this. Not glad you suffered the same pain as me, but at least I know It's not just me. I agree that there's a terrible design flaw with the heels of these shoes. Maybe it's the reinforcement from the newly-added three stripes on the backs...the plastic seems pretty firm and unforgiving if you ask me...
Anyway, today was a nice day to play and I couldn't because I'm in the same boat as you....still can't wear shoes very well.....ANY shoes!
But that's ok...it's only been four days!!! UGGGHHH!!!!

Whoops...forgot the update! I called Adidas today and I must say they were very good about the situation. While they didn't claim to know anything about an "early run" problem, they did say that they have a 30 day comfort gurantee. They apologized for what happened and told me to return the shoes under the comfort warranty; which they expect all of their dealers to honor. They said that they will absolutely make this right.
Now the bad news....I've sent three emails to the online dealer I bought these from and have yet to get a response. If I don't get authorization to return the Heel-Shredder Tour 3.0s, it's back to Adidas for some strong-arming....

I would contact Adidas customer service department and have them give you their point of contact with that retailer. Or better yet, have their customer service dept. contact the store on your behalf via email or phone. The last thing they want to do is jeopardize their relationship with Adidas.
