Laying up for the win on a par 4. Not saying these guys suck or anything or saying I would do better. But just wish another hole for the playoff would have been nice. both laying 3 and 4 and no putts yet! Zzzzzzzzzzzzz......
Ladies Kaft ended right!

this is probably a whole other discussion in itself. But i don't like the fact that every tournament course now seems to have an 18th hole renovated or lengthened to play like 480yds with water. You see a lot of grind-out bogey finishes rather than birdies. This is one area where the euro tour is more exciting because there's more potential for shotmaking down the stretch.
Doral, Bay Hill (ahem, not the last couple of years though...) Quail Hollow, TPC sawgrass, TPC 4 seasons, PGA national, redstone...just off the top of my head. Brutal finishing holes or finishes in general

18 at Redstone is a lot better hole when the prevailing wind is blowing. It's admittedly a crappy hole when a north wind is blowing 30+.

But hey did you know Fred Couples was '49' ... Dan Hicks reminded us of this every other minute. Btw, Greg Norman is 54 .... For awhile I thought he changed his name to '54 year old Greg Norman'.
That's enough of NBC for awhile .. .we need a Hicks break

The Euro tour wasn't any better today (Portugal). There was a playoff that lasted three holes and both the guys took irons off 18 tee twice and had about 200 yards in to the green and were struggling to make par. Out of the three playoff holes (6 shots into the green), 1 ball was on the green in regulation. A difficult finishing hole doesn't ruin anything for me though. It shows who's got the guts to step up to the shot and make something happen. I did feel kinda bad for JB though, not having been on the course for almost 3 hours.

I didn't see the euro tour today, so i guess i picked the wrong day to sing their praises LOL...But just in general i have found that. There are still many courses (Torrey pines, Glen Abbey on the rotation this year, Pebble etc.. that have excellent risk reward, birdie-able closers. But i find more and more the 18th has become a pound your chest hole for all the re-designs or etc...And it has led to some boring finishes. Usually (on the occasion that i'm up early enough to watch it) the euro courses have avoided this syndrome

I dunno I think the eighteenth at Doral is an awsome hole and it's always been that way.

18th at doral is a very polarizing hole according to the tour player interviews. Some guys hate it
I don't mind a few courses having tough finishes, diversity in courses is great. But don't take birdies out of it every week. How many times have we heard the term "US open setup" at regular tournaments in the past couple of years. Bring the birdies back!

The rediculously hard closing holes in the PGA- including the Masters back 9 - have been detrimental !
The " I Have the Fastest Greens on the PGA, just like the Masters" - effort by the Course Supers- have been detrimental !
Can I ask why, WHY! was the pin on 18 Tucked Way back 1.5 paces from the water ?
Give me a beak. They moved the Tees way up, and they should have had the Pin any place but that one.
One of the announcers was bragging that the stimp was near 14 on thursday - gosh let's go for a stimp of 15
and have play cancelled with a 20 mph wind !!!!!!!!
This Course Mentality is spreading and it's STUPID !! ( IMO).

Yes the PGA has got ridiculous with the greens. You can keep the long yardage but relax with the greens. WIND DELAY! seriously.

the 18th hole for the Kraft Nabisco was perfect. lincicome hit a perfect 2nd shot in there and was rewarded with the victory. that's how it should be.

It was amusing in a way.
Although Redstone could have tempted them more with a front hole location or something before that ridge.
Three wood, then 200 yards to a more accessible location may have made for more interesting strategy. Driver or 3 wood, avoid the bunker... make it birdie-able.

TAIII could have a five shot lead and not get much attention on air and yes he is 49. For whatever reason, there has to be a special occasion to see TA on tv... If TA makes another damn 8 this year why he is in contention for a win I am going to throw myself in a lake. Come on, two 8's this year already while in contention!!!

The strategy of Casey was pretty much determined by Holmes' tee shot into the water.
