just wondering if anyone has heard about a new season of the Big Break? i haven't seen any promos yet - didn't know if i missed it.

thanks!
Tmiller72
Just saw a promo for it a minute ago. $100,000 to the winner. Can't wait to watch another group of players that think they are so much better than they really are.

Unfortunately, as a fellow fan, that sounds like the team in your avatar.

It must feel chest thumping swell to rip the Big Break. That attitude is the ultimate cliche on golf message boards. Post that something is fake on ebay, and Big Break is worthless, and that's pretty much a full day.

Does anyone really believe Golf Channel producers are going to cast the woe-is-me types, players who are downcast and belittling their games?

Haven't seen the promo yet. Could it possibly be Double D v. The World. In which case I would watch. Hell I'll watch anyway. Still that would make a great series.

not to bash the big break, but at times the players seem either very good or highly overrated often in the same season. During some of the challenges I find myself asking how are these guys this bad and on this show and other times thinking that shot was pretty good. Does anyone else have this feeling?

All the time. I used to work with one of the guys from the first season and we beat him like a drum. He paid my rent a few times. Won't name names but he thought he was Tiger and played more like Spalding.

Sort of like Nitties leading today?

That show made James Vargas look bad - and he does OK on the Hooters Tour. Just sayin....

They get a few good players here and there - (edit: MOST) are not PGA tour quality obviously. Gainey and Nitties have had some success on tour.

If you look at Brian Kontak's stats from the Gateway Tour the year after BB (2007) he made some serious $$ - over $120 Gs

I like Big Break...it's entertaining. There are always a few that don't seem up to the task ability-wise, but they've had some better players as of late:

Nitties
Vargas
Kontak
Gainey (say what you will...the guy can play)
Every

McPherson (LPGA)

nitties has been playing well all season. every is leading the nw tour event by three shots and shot a 63 today. gainey made the cut at the nw event. some of those guy have game.
eatthemoney
yes there have been some good ones, I guess like someone said talent across the board maybe? I don't know. I am not pretending to be better than any of those guys I just find at times I watch it and say to myself these guys are professional golf quality? O an d leave T Miller's 'canes alone they are having a rough patch. Ohio State and ND are the most overrated college football programs, I should know I attend OSU from ohio so I am not a Michigan resident hating on OSU I have to watch those clowns every saturday in the fall while 50,000 other people beg to be drenched in Jim Tressels baby gravy

It is being played where I live, I know Derek Gillespie is a contestant, he has some serious game just can't get through q school. He has been one of the better players on the Candian tour for several years and was touted as a can't miss. Really looking forwars to it, it was totally secret, TIM

And Kristy McPherson is tied for the lead at LPGA Nabisco.

Funny thing is that more successful players from Big Break series went out early in BB shows. Gainey might be the exception but it took him two BB shows.

I followed him around for about 6 holes during the Sony Open last year. He's actually really fun to watch and seems extremely humbled to be out there. Not to mention he kills the ball. On a relatively short par 4, both his playing partners hit drivers down the middle. He played a hybrid (I am assuming around 17-19 degrees since he had a 3 wood in the bag). He out drove both of them by 40 yards. It was insane how hard this guy hits the ball.

I think they ought to bring back Don Donatello. Wouldn't that really make the show interesting? Ratings would be through the roof. Pull that tape tight!! Big Break is great. Can't wait to watch the new season.

How do you git on the show. I cant seem to finde an app for it anywhere ?

Looking forward to seeing what Kim Welch does on the LPGA. Very long hitting and earned her card through the Duramed Futures Tour. She must have a low number though as it seems she hasn't made an event yet.

Do you mean Kevin Na? He was never on the Big Break. The vast majority of the good players came from the Mesquite show when the GC made an effort to find a group of very good players. Except for that little guy from NY. How did he get on that show?

I just want to say no big girls and old dudes. I hate seeing the 50 yr old guys that are "trying to make it". There time is up.. and Big girls? No guys want to see ugly people on tv...

Anyone know which course they're playing out of in PEI? I went a few years ago and played Crowbush Cove along with a couple others, really wasn't wowed by any of them. It's a beautiful place, should be a great backdrop for the show, but not the golfing destination they make themself out to be. A better Atlantic Canada destination would have been Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The Cabot Trail is as beautiful as anything PEI has to offer, the Highlands course is unbelievable, consistently ranking in the Top 3 in the country, and the Keltic Lodge would provide impeccable accomodations. As a Canadian, I'm just a little disappointed in the selection and would have rather we put one of our best courses and most beautiful landscapes on display for the world to see.

They played at Mill River, it was a regular on PEI'S Canadian tour rotation. Mill River consistantly had the some of the highest cuts ever seen on the tour, I played in the last event when Steve Alker won. Also having played in 15 nationals around this country, Dundarave is still the best I have played. When Jack and Tom Watson played here they played the white's. The highlands is an amazing course but if you don't play it in the late summer or fall the condition is just fair and I have played it about 40 times. TIM

Why does everyone mistake Roshi for Kevin Nah? Rosh was good though, but couldn't putt to save his life...hence why he isn't the best Big Break Alumni.
