I just got the brown with bronze patent a few weeks ago but weather around here isn't good enough to test them out yet, and I've got a pair of the black with black patent as well.
I'm just a big fan of the shield tips. I've got all white as well as the two I mentioned, I used to have the all brown that they don't make anymore. My favorite though is a vintage pair from the 1970s that I found brand new at an estate sale a few years ago....white pebble grain with sort of a bluish green patent shield tip, and a buckle instead of laces. Unfortunately the patent has lost its luster but they still look pretty good.
good read!

I have the brown/bronze patent and got to wear them for the first time 2 weeks ago. They look very sharp. Lots of compliments. I would love to find the red white and blue pair to wear for July 4th, memorial or labor day tourneys.

The red white and blues would be awesome. How about the purple and white shield tips...anyone have those?
If you like the shield tips I think you will like these
http://www.footjoy.com/catalog/mens.asp?c=...50961&p=allThey are built on the same grant last and look awesome. I picked up the all white, and chocolate brown.

Question about tracks down your way. I have played Congressional(both courses), Burning Tree and Bulle Rock how would you rate Robert Trent Jones GC v that list?

If you've played all of those courses, than man I applaud you

Of those I have only played Congo's blue course (U.S. Open 2011) and that is a great track. Every hole is framed perfectly and how well you putt will heavily determine your scoring. If you can't putt you'll be chasing your ball all over the greens. Of course when I played it was the week prior to Tiger's at&t tourney so they were moving.
I have had the invite twice to play RTJ from other members at my club, and both times I had something going on. From what I understand it is on par with Congo, but with better service. Everything is 1st class and there are very few members. I don't think you'll ever have to wait for the foursome ahead of you to putt out. I do hear a lot of guys talk about Caves Valley as being the best golfing experience in the area. I would say RTJ, Congressional and Caves are 3 of the elite tracks in the DC region.
Funny story since we're talking about shoes; A buddy of mine told me Tiger rented a new house when he was playing at RTJ for the Presidents Cup, and the owners told him "Tiger you can do whatever you want, but please no spikes in the house". After the tourney they came home and they had holes all over their new hardwood floors.

Whenever i ask someone about RTJ, they always mention the service and facillities first. Not sure if thats a good thing or not!?!? A very close friend whos(3 at Baltusrol)played RTJ 2 or 3 times has nothing good to say about it. Congressional is not one of my favorites clubs or golf courses. For several different silly reasons. Burning Tree is an old mans course, it was a great experience, and no one around but i would not run back to play it.
My dad has been talking about going to the Caves for years, not sure where to start working that invite...

Not trying to threadjack guys, but tried on a pair of the brown/bronze tip classics, and I understand this model comes with a grant last. Was wearing my Nike shox into the local golf store and swore that the footjoys felt more comfy. Anyways how does the classics last feel vs. the grant last????? Was considering different color schemes before they're all gone!!!

Most of the upscale dressier classics are on the grant last. The other option is the laser last. Footjoy's website explains the difference in detail, but my own opinion (owning both) is that the laser last has more of a molded snugger fit. Of the two, that is my favorite.

Blems are new, never sold. golflocker.com says most blems are retailer returns. A small percentage have a minor defect that is virtually undetectable unless you know exactly what to look for. The Dry Premiers were $199.00 and the Tour Classics were $169.00. I've purchased blems before from a local retailer and am happy to save the jack.
Are the new ones for $220.00 online? Classic dry premiers or tour classic? I wanted a pair of all white pebble saddle but out of my size at golflocker.

Awesome!
I received 3 pairs today from them and I would suggest looking them over when you get them. I have purchased blems before, and you usually can't see any type of flaws. 2 of the 3 pairs I got today had what I would consider significant flaws. One had a long cut in the leather near the sole, and the other had the finish flaking on the top of the toe. My club has ordered me a few pairs for around $225, and it might be worth it for me to return these and order some new pairs. You might however luck out with some flawless examples.

Talk about shilling their product....I just logged onto footjoy.com and the first thing that pops up are custom Tar Heel Myjoys.

Thanks I may take you up on that. Not that it makes a huge difference, but the "blems" don't come with the footjoy storage bags that normal ones come with either.

Being one of "those" guys who wear the fun golf pants, I have black/white patents, the purple/white patents and the red/white/blue patents. Those are my favorites! Can't wear them every day, but when the outfit calls for them, they're there to add that little bit of extra flair!

Pure745...great selection. The white with grey gator trim is so underrated. I have those and they are awesome!
The 4 you got are great because you can wear them with everything from "modern" golf attire to more traditional gear and not look like an idiot. I think the key to wearing the patents is to tone down the outfit and let the shoes speak for themselves.

P.S. in case you don't already make sure you have shoe trees for those bad boys. I find that the classics will last 10+ years by doing so, and you'll be able to minimize the creasing of the toe box.
