Normally Mondays are pretty quiet at a PGA Tour stop as most players are arriving and getting settled for the week. Today at the “API,” as locals call it, was far from quiet. The range was buzzing, the putting area was full, the locker room was packed, media were everywhere and the fans were out. This tournament and this course, definitely have an elite feel. Check out the slideshow below. Observations we made on day one:

  • A lot of players are wearing SYNR-G.
  • Many players have gone back to a simple, monochromatic style of clothing. Not many patterns on shirts or pants…although Poulter’s not here yet!
  • Bay Hill has great burgers.
  • Just because it’s called the Sunshine Sate doesn’t mean it doesn’t rain.
  • If you listen carefully, there’s a lot you can learn standing around the putting green.
  • Black pants deserve black shoes.
