With his recent good form (last 18 months) Ball Striking, shot shape, all he needs is a hot putter to be in contention on Sunday? Does anyone else think he should be a top ten pick at Augusta this year?

*can* Kenny Perry win the Masters? well, sure. should he be a top ten pick? not based upon his record there. he's never finished in the top 10 at the Masters, and he's only made the cut 3 times his entire career--despite the fact that Augusta sets up for a right-to-left ball flight.

I was under the impression that the fade at Augusta was the shot to have. Alot of the drives benefit from a draw, but the approach shots are different. Perry can hit a fade, but not nearly as well as his draw. Holding greens is the key to Augusta...as well as hitting it far and putting lights out.
Perry is a good putter, not great. He doesnt hit a lot of long putts and most of the birdies I have seen him hit in lately have been in the 10 ft range.
I really like Perry as a golfer. I dont think he wins a major though.

i would love to have these in my own bag. But i would love to see these irons in my dads bag more. I'm a junior golfer who never had a coach in my life, except for my dad. My dad is a weekend golfer with little bit of knowledge about golf, but he still managed to teach me the basic fundamentals of golf and also life lessons on the course. My dad has played same irons (Callaway hawkeye) since 2002 and they are cast clubs, meaning that he would never be able to "feel" that buttery-ness of the ball hitting the sweetspot. i would love to give these irons to my dad as a thank you gift..Also, Thank you, Mizuno and Golfwrx for giving me a chance to change my dads irons.
I think kenny perry hits the ball high enough to stop the ball on the greens. With equipment these days, you don't have to hit a high fade to be able to stop longer clubs on the green. I saw chad campbell stop a 5 wood pretty quick, as well as zach johnson stopping a hybrid on a dime from 230 (and kenny perry is, shall we say, is slightly longer than zach). His driving accuracy and distance will be a HUUUGE help on the course. My only doubt is that he's not a great putter on fast undulating greens, but if he gets hot with the flatstick he dfinitely has the ballstriking to make him a serious contender.

He is really accurate player and I'm not suprised if he ended up in top ten. Does he win, I don't believe that, there's other really good players too on top of the list.

I'm still waiting for a Tigerphile to chime in with "NO, Tiger's only 7 strokes back. Journeyman Perry will crumble under the pressure from the glory of Tiger's presence."
Back to the point, with Kenny's ridiculous combination of driving accuracy/distance he's going to be putting a LOT of pressure on the field, most of whom don't have his driving skills. Sunday Augusta is a serious test from off the fairways.

I think he has a great chance due to the fact he, atleast appears to be, "relaxed" if that's what you want to call it. According to him, or maybe just the Golf Channel, there is no pressure because everything after the Ryder Cup is a "bonus" in his career.

No doubt he can but, personally, I'll be surprised if he puts another great round together. I just don't seem him with the temperament to hold together under the kind of pressure that will be there tomorrow. The Masters is SOOOOOO special. It will be draining to sleep on that lead. Hopefully, there will be some "attacks" from the hords at -4, -5, -6. By the time he tees off there may be some interesting names moving onto page one.

The history of the winner coming from the last group works in his favor. But since Cabrera managed to play his way into the final pairing you got to think he has the advantage as a past major winner.

Ya, I think this year can be very exciting, come the back nine tomorrow. I think there might be a clubhouse lead by the time Cabrera and KP get to about 16, 17.

He can, and he will win tomorrow.
I view Augusta as a high ball hitters course.

Cabrera's definitely interesting. Looking at his past results at the masters, he pretty much sustains the same form throughout the week, and the way he's playing now, that bodes very well for sunday.

Of course he can win. Knowing the Master's though, I wouldn't bet a dime on the outcome.
I'm rooting for him. Or for Campbell, or for another guy without a major.
