I am just wondering how much you all spend on golf each month - EQUIPTMENT NOT INCLUDED.
I play 4 to 5 times a month and try to find the cheapest thing around at a decent course which puts me at munis or public tracks owned by golf corporations. I spend on average $30 a round. Plus I hit balls a few times a month for probably another $30. So I am guessing I spedn around $200 a month.
The reason for my inquiry is that I am debating private memberships and I didn't know if I could find one for around what I pay now for golfing. Of course the condtioning is nicer and I would play more because I wouldn't have to play a full 18 or 27 everytime I went out.
What are your thoughts?

I used to have a membership to a country club that was $100/month, all the golf you could want to play, and free range balls. If you used a cart, it cost you $14 for a shared cart or $19 by yourself. If you walked, it only cost you the $100/month. I was playing there probably 3 times per week, and still playing other courses maybe once per week. It was all good, but I grew to not like the course, and canceled my membership. Every fairway had moguls. You could stripe the best drive of your life, down the center of the fairway, and the ball would be 6" above your feet, or one foot above the other, and the ball below. The greens were always like carpet, but really slow. They were the most consistent greens I have ever played on, but when you went to other courses, you blew the ball by the hole, by a long shot. It also held water really bad. After a day of rain, it would be cart path only for a week minimum. It was so bad that your feet would sink into the fringe on most greens. It is just a matter of what you want. If you dont mind playing the same course all the time, it may be worth it. I like to play different courses alot, so I can no longer justify a membership to one course to my wife.
Now, I play once or twice per week when work allows, and pay anywhere between $30 - $50 per round depending on where I go (usually play on weekends). I only go to the range right before my round, and it's usually about $5 for balls. So, I spend around $200 - $300 per month on golf. If I were still paying for the country club, it would be $300 - $400.

out here in AZ, the winter rates go sky high when the weather drops. COurses that I could play for $20 in the summer are pushing $100 if not more now.
I joined a pretty nice club for $200 a month unlimited golf at two courses, zero enrollment fee(normally 3 grand) and unlimited range balls.
I work 3rd shift so Im free to play every day if I so desire but I tend to play only 5 days a week hahaha. I do have to pay a cart fee if I want to ride but ususally the guys in the pro shop hook it up since Im in there almost every day, buy food from the resteraunt, and buy a shirt or two every month.
They also just bought a 3rd course that we get to play for only a cart fee, and its a preeeeeeeety sweet course. Im so glad I joined, its a fun course, the members are really nice, and though my scores havent dropped dramaticly(actually gone from a 7.9 up to an 8.7 since I joined), my game has shown improvement, its just that damn thing called putting!. If you like the course and the members, I say do it man!

I calculated it last month to be right at $200 which in my book is WAY too much (that's not including buying any clubs). I also have another hobby that costs significantly more so I need to keep golf in check.
I figured I spend about 35-40 at the ranges and the rest is actually playing. The most expensive rounds I play are only $35 or so and I often just go walk twilight for $10-12 bucks and play some night golf 9 hole par 3 (lit) for $12.
Trying to cut the range to just once per week ($5) and play once a week ($25 average). This should keep my golf to around $100 a month. I'd really like to save that money but you have to live a little.
