Hey guys I have a 8" 4 way top stand bag, and my clubs get all tangled going in and coming out. I am getting a new bag and there are so may top configurations that it is mind boggling. 4 way IMO is too few. What would you recommend as far as number of dividers? 6, 8, more? Also I walk most the time.

I like having one with 14 way dividers with full length divider system thats what my Nike Pro Combo stand bag has But I'm thinking of trying a Ping Hoofer but it only has a 5 way top but I do LOVE the color I can get black/atomic orange would really look good with my Ping G-10's that I have. I have the Ogio Nexos which in my opinion is the best stand bag out right now. It is a little on the heavy side for a stand bag but if you are like me and use it primarily in the cart and occasionally walk for nine holes and at the range then it is the best option. The torque strap is probably one of its best features. All my friends like that feature the best. The Wedge system is perfect for my club setup and the arc lite system is also great at adapting to different types of terrain.

The woode system pictured (ogio's design, but licensed out to a lot of companies) works pretty well. I still run into some issues putting clubs back in, but it's probably the best I've used. I've looked at the nexos but I'm concerned with the woods around the sides "trapping" the irons in the middle. The nexos weighs 7.2 lbs, and the edge weighs 6.5lbs. I've got the edge and I like it a lot, although I've been riding more than walking lately due to lazy playing partners.

I use a Titleist Sunday stand bag. Single divider, made by Sun Mountain. I put all clubs with headcovers in the top compartment and all irons and wedges in the bottom compartment. The clubs go in and come out fine and bag chatter is minimized because the heads all lay against each other when I walk rather than being held apart by dividers so that the heads can bang together. Pretty standard side compartments with plenty of room for the stuff I need to carry.

YEah I don't think that one will work for me, it's not a stand bag, and doesn't have enough pockets for what I need to carry. If I can get the right deals I might end up getting a larger carry bag that I would use on cart days and in more variable weather (I live in Oregon our weather is pretty unpredictable most of the year), and also get like a mini Looper bag that I can use in summer time and on practice days.

After seeing Will's Sun Mtn. Four 5, I really think that is sweet bag. 14-way divider and light! They have to be good, as they make Titleist's bags... and they're awesome too.

It is a stand bag. It is the smallest Titleist stand bag available, made for them by Sun Mountain. I think Sun Mountain calls their version the Mini and Titleist calls it the Ultra Lightweight Stand Bag. Sorry if the term "Sunday stand bag" was confusing, I couldn't remember the exact name at the time.

+1 on this bag, the NIKE Sasquatch Tour. 14 dividers so you never have any clubs tangle. Also, the bottom of the bag does not collapse to kick out the legs, thus further eliminating the tangle problem. Lots of pockets, solid sturdy legs, air-cushion straps, a cooler pocket for fruit or anything you want to keep chilled, water bottle pocket, nice padding on your lower back, would you like to hear more?!?!? I

mine!
I walk quite a fair amount. 18 holes, twice a week on average. Always carry, unless I rent a push cart. And in that case, it's also nice because the dividers eliminate tangles when the bag in on an angle as well.
Good colors too!
Good luck in your choice.

Something to think about - I was looking at a bag the other day that had an 8-way divider and it seemed like the dividers took up so much space and made the club compartments much smaller. This to me looked like it would make it harder to remove/insert the clubs. I think you reach a point of diminishing benefit by adding too many dividers given the same 9" diameter bag.
I have two carry bags with 6-way dividers and although they probably are not as easy to use as a 14-way full length divider system, I'm sure they weigh a lot less.

Don't let price hold you back man (unless you're shopping a JDM bag

). I know the Four 5 is spendy, but it's on my list too... since my Titleist bag took a dump on me.
My justification is if you're going to use it all the time, you might as well pay to get what you want. Bags and shoes are two things I just hate to

I really love this bag (I think last year's Warbird Hot is even better). HOWEVER (and this is a big however), I really don't like the straps. The problem is that they attach to the bag at 3 points as opposed to 4. As a result, the point at where both straps attach to the bag in the middle (at least for me) hits me pretty hard in the middle of the back. I called Callaway and they told me that they've heard this complaint before. The problem is that all Callaway bags currently feature this strap system. I just can't get used to it.

I looked at the Nike Extreme Sport, Extreme Element and Ping Hoofer Vantage today.
The Sport is kinda promising but the Dividers at the op seem too small to make putting clubs in practical. Has a putter well, which I like but of the remaining 7 openings 3 can only fit 1 club, 3 can fit maybe 2 and that leaves 1 slot for 4 or 5 clubs... Seems cramped.
The Element was pretty intriguing. Nice and light and has an external frame so would work on carts fairly well.
I know people get really excited about the PING hoofer bag... And after looking at the new version, I'm not sure why. I mean it's a nice looking bag, the divider system is ok. While the legs are really stable the bag sure sets really low to the ground with the legs deployed. And the new strap? Seems like a pointless addition of technology. It's a nice bag don't get me wrong, but for the price there are better options.
Sun Mountain four-5 and Titleist Premium are up on my list. I'm interested in the Mizuno bags too but have heard horror stories about their legs.

I use an OGIO bag with the Wood-e divider system and am 90% satisfied with it. I am very happy with the way the woods have their own slots and there is a deep, seperate putterwell that keeps my putter safe. Generally, the irons go in and out of the larger slots with no problems but fairly frequently the grips hang up and I have to bang on a club to get it into the slot. Usually this happens after a bad shot, and the sudden lack of cooperation from my bag really compounds my anger! :P For the most part I deal with any hang-ups I have by wiggling the clubs. It certainly doesn't bother me enough to look for a new bag.

Question -
I think I have seen in other posts that the Sun Mountain Four 5 does not work to well if you decide to use it in a cart (the ones you drive). Is this correct?
Also do the other bags like the Nike SasQuatch have this same issue?

To be honest, i had a 4 divider hoofer for 9 years, loved it, got a 6 divider addidas ascend and hate it - i feel like everything is more tangled now than it was before
I loved having LW, SW, GW, PW in the bottom; 9,8,7 in the left; 6,5,4 on the right; and D, 3W, Hybrid, and putter on top
now i have 4 wedges on the bottom, 9,8 low left; 7,6 low right; 5,4 mid left; hybrid, 3W mid right; and D and putter top - I HATE IT, it feels so much more cluttered - i liked having them all together and they could fall in line and settle

My husband has the Titleist Premium and I have the Sun Mountain Four 5. I am happy to take pics or answer specific questions about how the clubs fit if you like.
The Titleist Premium is almost the same bag as the Four 5, but the material is thicker and the bag is heavier. The pocket set up is almost the same. Plenty of pockets, IMO, and I like to separate all of my stuff. My husband swears the straps on his bag are the most comfortable straps ever. He mentions it everytime we go play or even when he takes the bag from the car to the range.
You are right about the putter. My putter is a 33" and it does not bottom out in the Four 5 with the headcover on. And the headcover is always on when I am not putting, since my putter cost a lot and I baby it.
Let me know if you want more comparisons.

I understand what you are saying. I just took 2 quick pics for you with my iphone. Not best pics, but gives you an idea. I put my Spider in there. It is the big one, not itsy bitsy. I put it on the right lower spot and left lower spot. If you put it in a top spot, it will hang over, I think.

No problem-glad to help. I have lots of woods/hybrids. I think that is why I like the 14 divider. I am not too careful with the bag, and it has not faded at all, even in Florida.
My husband still prefers the Titleist bag. He does not care for the 14 divider.
I do not think the 14 way divider helps with bag chatter. It may actually make it worse since the iron heads cannot sit tight on each other. I like having all my clubs in a certain spot, and then I know I did not leave a wedge laying around when I take 2 out to decide.

There was a thread last summer about stand bags that went well on carts, and the Sun mountain MPB was also highly rated. There were none in my area until well after I got the Nike, so I don't know from first hand experience, but it sure looked nice when I saw one in the store.

I'm the same, but my favorite course, which I drive out to play once or twice a season, requires riding, so I wanted to look for a bag that could handle both. If you're in decent shape, and don't load down the bag with extras, it really won't affect you at all carrying the Nike. I don't know about the Sun mountain that way, but they make a quality product so I have no doubts it would be good as well.

I thought the same at first, but time has taken a toll on my patience for Ogio bags and their Woode system. Clubs get tangled with one another and the small little shaft nub divider things on each row are basically useless. The pockets and style of my Grom are great, that's not my issue. The legs are absolutely terrible and the H bracket either pops off or needs to be adjusted all the time. I bought the bag based on reviews I read about the Woode system and I seriously don't know what everyone was smoking.
Due to some recent back issues I will no longer carry my clubs, therefore I've paired a Clicgear 2.0 with a Sun Mountain C-130.... which reminds me another thing I hate about the Woode system, wedges are hiding under everything and make pulling clubs out of the bag a hastle. C-130 has the reverse where placed in/on a cart, the wedges are right up front.
