other than in Club competitions - at our club, for our normal 4 ball games we have side bets.

After we toss balls up to decide which 2 is playing which 2 we then nominate 'bits'.

# £2 FOR THE FIRST 9; £2 BACK NINE; £2 OVERALL SCORE.

# First 'bit' is £1 for any birdie scored (goes to each player of the team)

# Oozalums on par 3s - that is the player on the green who is nearest to the hole MUST make par or better to win the 'bit' if not ( i.e. he 3 or more putts) then the bit is given away to the opposition.


These first 3 are standard for just about any friendly 4 ball in our club ... sometimes we also have oozalums on par 5s also.


SO, WHAT IS YOUR STANDARD BET OR BETS ?

i play with my dad (he's a pro and i'm a 3.2 hdcp) and we play even, no strokes at all, and if i win, we get to go wherever i want for dinner.

or, i play with my foursome (me, 15, 16, and 22 hdcps) and we play their best ball against me. it's normally pretty even.

we will play $1 a hole match play usually there are 3 of us so you are playing two different people no strokes given to either person... then for the par 3s we will play with about 4 to 8 other people that play in front of us closest to a pin for a $1... you can win all of them or none, it can turn real profitable some days and can cost you on others but it adds some fun pressure on the greens on shots, kinda adds the tournament feel to your round...

out of interest - have you guys heard of OOZALUMs as a bet in the USA ??

Always play greenies on the par 3's.

Always a normal skins game $0.50/hole between 8-12 guys.

We always play closest to the hole on par 3s. Whomever gets their tee shot closest win the other players' golf ball.

Whenever we have our foursome golf trips, we play 2 against 2 and best score gets dinner/lunch paid for. Pretty fun.

Greenies I believe are GIR and you must par or better.

I have a buddy who is the superintendent at a local course. We used to have a group that played with him, and we always played $1/hole skins, nothing over double bogey can win, and closest to the pin on par 3's. The closest to the pin on par 3's prize was negotiated on the tee box and agreed to prior to teeing off. It was optional.

That is the only group I ever bet with.

We do roughly the same thing, except as a larger group of 4 to 7 foursomes. $20/man goes into a pool for skins, par 3 nearies, and individual low net. If you 3-putt a nearie you lose it and that money gets divided by the remaining good nearies.

$5 Nassau - 5 for the front, 5 for the back, 5 for overall, press is optional after 2 down

When we are a 3some, we play nines - best score on a hole gets 5 points, second gets 3 points, 3rd gets 1 point - ties work the same way 2 tie for first 4 each, 1 for last - 3 way tie 3 points each - 1 win, 2 tie 5 points 1st and 2 points for last 2 - usually play a dollar a point

In a threesome, we always play Nines.

The other game we play the most we call buckets. Each hole is worth potentially 5 points (4 for par 3's).

1. Longest drive in FW.
2. Closest to pin in regulation.
3. Fewest putts.
4. Low net score.
5. If you get all previous points, you get this point, winning a bucket.

Assign whatever value you would like to each point. Money or pride. It brings some strategy into play. You must think about your tee shot. You're happy to be on the fringe, etc.

When we play "Greenies", it seems to be the same as the Oozalum you mentioned.
