Hi guys,
First time I have posted on here. I am off to Florida and the Bahamas in May for a couple of weeks. We are staying at La Playa in Naples for 4 days and I will be able to play a couple of rounds while I'm there. Obviously I'll get one round in at the course there. Anybody played it before? What did you think of it? Any other courses you recommned in the area to play?
We'll be spending a week in the Bahamas after that on Paradise Island. Going to try and have a round at the Ocean Club on Paradise Island. Again, anybody played and any thoughts on it? Anybody played any other courses on Nassau?
I've only been back playing golf for 9 months (after a 16 year or so break) so not looking for anywhere to difficult. Playing roughly to a 20 handicap at the moment. Dont mind spending a bit of money to play as its not everyday we are across in the US!!!!
Thanks

Hi,
I've been to Naples about 20 times over the last 15 years, You'll love it. The Golf and the beaches are really great.
Before I tell you about the golf, make a point to spend atleast 3 to 4 hours on the beach at the Pier ( think its 12th Ave.), Its by far one of my favorite spots in the world. Great beach and great sites. There are usually a group of dolphins swimming off the large pier. The Pier is about 140 to 150 yards long, so you can walk out a long way, get a snack at the snack bar, watch the people fish, ect, its a great experience. I love Naples !
If your looking for a really fun good place thats forgiving, play Lely Resorts Mustang Course. The course was designed by Lee Trevino and opened around 1996. Its a really good layout and pretty much wide open, with some trouble, but you'll really enjoy it. They also have a great driving range. The whole place has an exciting atmosphere in my opinion. They also have another course there "Flamingo Island" a Trent Jones course, which is a little more difficult, but if you play from the proper tee's you won't have a problem.
Another fun course is about 15 to 20 min from the heart of Naples slightly north up rte 41 is Raptor Bay, its usually in Tip top shape and its also fairly wide open. Its an awesome place to play too.
I think in May you won't have a tough time getting on "The Rookery". Its a private resort, but I think a few mornings a week you can get on. Its a great course.
Then theres "old corkscrew" which just opened, is a great Nicklaus course. I haven't played that, but its looks incridible.
Then there's Tiburon, which is very expensive, but its awesome. They play the Shark Shoot out there in November. They have 2 courses there.
Enjoy.
