I purchased the Club Glove Burstproof II travel bag since it is supposed to be top notch as far as travel bags go. I like to travel light and would be taking my Sun Mountain four 5 carry bag (love the 14 dividers), along with a stiff arm for protection.

Well, the burstproof shows up today and I do a dry run to see how the bag is gonna fit, etc. Long story short, when I lay the bag in sideways, the plastic tab, or lever, on the bottom of the bag (so the legs kick out) doesn't fit inside the base of the travel bag (hard plastic base with sides that curl up). I lay the bag in with the legs to the back of the base plate, and the bag sticks out too far, and the zipper won't close. I can get the bag in sideways, and closed, but the lever digs into the side of the nylon, and the bag doesn't sit properly on the bottom of the travel bag.

It says that it fits any size stand bag, and yes I can technically get the bag in and the zipper closed, but when all the weight of the bag is resting on the lever because it is wedged against the side of the travel bag, how long till that gets broken or, the lever cuts through the side of the nylon?

I have a Macgregor cart bag that actually fits in better than the four 5. Is there a way to take off the lever for travel? Anyone else run into this problem? This sucks.

Mine is a tight fit too, but I think that helps with the stability and club safety.

I always thought that bag was too small.....I bought the Last Bag myself..........use it for both stand and staff bags.

Can you disconnect the stand mechanism? I remember a while back I had a similar problem with a Belding bag. I just disconnected the legs from the stand mechanism and travelled with it that way. As a bonus, I didn't need to be concerned about the stand breaking if the bag got tossed around a bit in transit.

It doesn't look like the stand lever can be taken off the bottom of the bag. I might be able to take the stand legs out of the lever (small screw), but the lever will still be attached to the bottom of the bag. Will try to post a few pics shortly.

Reminds me of a customer I had many moons ago...gentleman came in determined to return a travel cover because it would not fit in his car (tiny bmw roadster w. tiny trunk), convinced that there had to be another option...& he even forced me to follow him outside to the parking lot for a demonstration - after a few seconds, I was able to get him to realize that the travel cover was collapsible, and that it was his golf clubs that did not fit in his car -not the travel bag. He finally acquiesced and said "well, what the hell am I suppossed to do then!?" ...I replied, "get a new car."

*Long story short -don't blame the burstproof!

They advertise "Ideal for any carry bag", and I would not think the four 5 bag would be considered a huge carry bag.

You know, you said "carry bag", not "stand bag". Wouldn't a "carry bag" not have the stand mechanism on the bottom?
