Next year, I am in. I have been dreaming of organizing the exact same event. I have my persimmon - just need true blades.

Iron Specifications:
l. Irons must be within the game's tradition of forged metal (blades), and must not exhibit the
presence of any perimeter weighting in an attempt to enlarge the sweetspot of the clubhead.
m. Irons may not have milled or textured faces other than v-shaped grooves within the fine
tradition of the game. Box-shaped grooves are not allowed.
n. No iron shall have a total dead weight of less than 14.5 ounces.
o. An iron must have a shank area where the shaft protrudes onto the hitting face of the club.
p. Irons must not exceed 3 inches from the toe to the start of the shank, unless the club was
produced prior to 1950 (the "grandfather clause"), in which case the toe to shank measurement
may be up to 3 1/2 inches.
q. Face depth may not exceed 2 inches when the club is properly grounded, excluding the loft
of the clubface.


Sounds like they can be newer as long as they comform to those measurements.

I wish I had the game for something like this. I'll take the old blades and woods out for a round in April, but I have no business flying cross country to play in a tourney. Enjoy it guys. It sounds like a blast. I read somewhere that everyone plays the same ball. It's a soft cover that is described as basically a ladies ball because they don't make balata. I think the soft compression will be a needed trait with the teeny clubs!

This sounds like fun! Its been awhile since I've had the blades and the persimmon out there. Anybody have any ideas about wedges? Even the 485 and 588 Clevelands from the 80's had cast square grooves. I'll need to find a sw.

Look around for some old Wilson or Mac Gregor wedges. They should be easy to find. I have some I have saved along with some wooden drivers,3,4 and 5 woods. Sounds like a cool event..

Wish there was something like that in New England. I'd love to organize something like that, been thinking....

I just got notice there will be a bagpipe player on the first tee, I hope he doesn't play during my backswing.. it will be hard enough just hitting the classic gear.

From what I understand new gear is ok as long as woods are made of wood, and irons
don't have square grooves.

I wonder if anyone will break 80?

The course looks really nice. I have heard it can play really tough, especially if the wind is whipping off the SF Bay.

Dude, i wish you guys luck. I've been hitting the persimmon a bunch over the last few weeks and let me tell you this. If you haven't in a long time you better hit a few , or a lot before the tourney. Its a whole different swing IMO. I love it, but it takes a little to get used too. Good luck.
