Does any else get anoyed by the constant screaming of GET IN THE HOLE!

Its doesnt anoy me much on par 3's, but yelling it out on the tee of a 480 yard par 4, when the player has no chance of its happening, who ever is saying is just sounding dumb.

Thankfully you dont get it much in England.
Anyone who does shout it usually gets slaughtered by the surrounding fans, or at least lots of audible comments about being a dick or somesuch.
Might also be because we dont like making as much noise as Americans (generally speaking)

i don't like it because it's both impossible (to hole out on a 480 par 4) and unoriginal.

i'd like to see them yell out more thoughtful, realistic golf commentary...such as (right after the swing):

"Get at the left side of the green to leave an uphill birdie putt!!!"
"Get down the right side of the fairway so you can see the green better!!!!"
"Get to tap in range baby!!!!"

i don't know, those fans would sound like they knew golf better

A classic example of the old adage - better to keep your mouth shut and maintain the illusion you may not be an idiot than open it and remove all doubt.

The crowds need to work together a few times and beat the everlovin snot out of a few of the "get in the hole" jerks. That might set a proper example.

It's annoying. I hate it. The only guy who thinks it's funny is the idiot yelling. These are probably the same guys who yell "Free Bird!" at every concert they go to.

i think it is the stupidest thing in all sports........and it makes golf fans look like idiots. at the Masters, if you act like an idiot, you're out. maybe they shouldn't be kicked out, but its got to stop. it is lame and stupid. scott c.

Heard a story about Greg Norman calling a guy out for the "Get in the hole!" comment at a tournament several years ago...

Norman smokes a drive on a par 5, some yo-yo gives it the GITH yell, and Norman turns around and looks right at the guy and says, "You must be some kind of f***ing idiot! Are you f***ing serious?" and walks away...

Outstanding...

I have had a couple of these idiots standing next to me at events in our area. Typically there are with a group of guys in there twenties smoking cigars and drunk.
