hello all, i am 17 years of age. i play of a handicap of 2 according to the australian handicapping system. the last couple of years i can honestly say i ve been overworking my golf game. i would find myself at the golf course practicing close to 7 days a week, trying to improve my game for the better. the last 6 months however i havnt been practicing at all and just showing up on the day to golf competitions and playing well. i have been striking the ball as good as i can remember, if not better than when i did practice 24/7. can anybody explain this, or has anybody been in this situation? and how can i get to the next 'elite' level from here?

I've done this before, sometimes everything seems so easy, but then when those rough days come up in your tourneys you're gonna wish you prepared more. Practicing everyday makes you good, but smart practice makes you great.

Like PBC said, smart practice is the key. Generally not a good idea to get a jumbo bucket of balls and then hit them all rapid-fire without putting any thought into it. A good way to practice full swings is to get a small bucket with 25 balls or so and spend 45 minutes hitting them. Take a couple minutes between each shots focus on whatever swing element your working on. You can also practice going through your pre-shot routine with each shot.
